Top Kicker Streamers for Week 4
Only players rostered in fewer than 65% of fantasy football leagues are considered potential streamers.
Matt Gay (LV) vs. Kansas City Chiefs
5% Rostered
The Raiders offense has been one of the most productive of the opening month, and kicker Matt Gay has been a major reason for that. Through three games, the veteran kicker has gone 6-for-6 on field goals and is coming off his best effort, including a 3-for-3 in the victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
Gay has also converted all eight extra points and taken at least three in all but one game. While he has attempted only one field goal from beyond 50 yards, this offense has gotten into scoring position, and with the addition of Brock Bowers, they should be even more consistent moving the ball downfield.
While the matchup against Kansas City is tougher, this offense has continued to put points on the board and may lean on Gay even more. Given that the Chiefs have allowed just 16.7 points per game this season, the Raiders could get shut down in the red zone, which could open up ample opportunities for Gay.
Daniel Carlson (NO) vs. Atlanta Falcons
3% Rostered
While the Saints offense has averaged an impressive 27.0 points per game, their kicker, Daniel Carlson, has yet to reap the fantasy rewards. Through three games, the veteran kicker has attempted just five field goals and gone 4-for-5 while converting seven of his eight extra points. While an 80% conversion rate isn't ideal, Carlson is getting into scoring position, which matters when you're looking for streaming targets.
On Monday, the Saints will face the Falcons, who have surrendered a modest 22.7 points per game but have been generous to kickers, allowing eight points to Chris Boswell in Week 1 and 10 to Ryan Fitzgerald in Week 2. Expect Carlson to enjoy his most productive game of the season in a projected high-scoring NFC South affair (47.5 O/U).
Trey Smack (GB) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
18% Rostered
Trey Smack has seen his productivity decline since a promising Week 1 effort, but he should be firmly back on the fantasy radar in Week 4. After going 3-for-3 in Week 1 with an extra point, Smack has attempted just three field goals (and gone 2-for-3) while going a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points. In Week 3, Smack totaled just two fantasy points (both from extra points) after missing his lone field goal.
However, managers should consider streaming Smack this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Through three weeks, the Buccaneers have been a very favorable matchup for kickers this season, allowing the most fantasy points per game. Smack's recent production is concerning, but he is in a prime spot to return to form.
Ryan Fitzgerald (CAR) vs. Detroit Lions
2% Rostered
The final name we will mention was recommended in last week's column, but is still very under-rostered. Sitting on nearly 95% of Yahoo waiver wires, Ryan Fitzgerald put in another strong effort in Week 3, going 4-for-4 on field goals, with one being from 50+ yards out. Over his last two games, Fitzgerald has attempted six field goals and converted all of them while kicking in four extra points.
The 26-year-old has benefited from an improving Carolina offense that has scored a hefty 29.7 points per game. On Sunday night, they are projected to be in another high-scoring affair against the Detroit Lions, who have allowed 31.7 points per game, the most in the NFL. Expect Fitzgerald to remain heavily involved on the box score.
Don't let his low rostership rate worry you. The 26-year-old could attempt more than three field goals once again, especially if the Panthers find themselves in another track meet.
