Darren Waller, Mason Taylor, Juwan Johnson: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks for Fantasy Football Week 6

Darren Waller - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should I start Darren Waller, Mason Taylor, Juwan Johnson for Week 6? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.

Week 6 is upon us. Each start/sit decision is becoming increasingly more important as we move deeper into the season.

Today, we will discuss several tight ends fantasy gamers are considering throwing into lineups this week. Darren Waller, Mason Taylor, and Juwan Johnson are several options available to gamers looking for a tight end. There are pros and cons to starting each player, so managers are faced with some tough decisions this week.

So, should fantasy managers start Waller, Taylor, or Johnson in Week 6? Let's discuss what gamers should do with each player.

Should I Start Darren Waller for Fantasy Football?

Waller continued his hot start to the season in Week 5. He posted a 5-78-1 line on five targets and finished the week as the PPR TE6.

He also played a season-high 58% of offensive snaps. We should continue to see Waller’s playing time rise as he gets further away from his preseason hip strain. That’s good news because Miami will need to continue relying on Waller with Tyreek Hill sidelined for the season due to a knee injury.

Miami has a tough matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. The Chargers are dealing with some injuries, but have still been very good at limiting opposing tight ends. However, it looks clear that Miami wants to make Waller a featured part of its offense.

This is not the best matchup for Waller, but it’s hard to ignore his production through two games. Fantasy managers who need a tight end should view Waller as a viable streaming candidate or bye week replacement. Consider him a backend TE1 for Week 6

Should I Start Mason Taylor for Fantasy Football?

Taylor is coming off his best game as a pro in Week 5. He posted a 9-67-0 line on a team-high 12 targets to finish as the PPR TE8. He has seen consistent playing time from Week 1 and has played at least 72% of offensive snaps in every week this season. He legitimately looks the part of a starting NFL tight end and is establishing himself as the Jets' number two option behind Garrett Wilson.

As fun as the last two weeks have been for Taylor, he has a tough assignment ahead of him in Week 6. New York faces a Denver Broncos team that’s allowed the eighth-fewest PPR points per game to tight ends this year.

New York is listed as a 7.5-point underdog in this game. They could be playing from behind for most of this contest, similar to most of their games so far. Even though it’s a tough matchup, there’s a chance Taylor can accrue a bunch of points in garbage time and be a real asset to gamers.

However, Denver’s defense is much better than what New York has faced the last two weeks in the Cowboys and the Dolphins. There’s a chance Denver completely shuts down this offense, and anyone on the Jets would struggle to produce fantasy results in this scenario.

Gamers should view Taylor as a fringe TE1 candidate this week. He’s a fine bye week replacement, but managers should not consider him a must-start option because he does carry some added risk given the Jets' opponent this week.

Should I Start Juwan Johnson for Fantasy Football?

Johnson started off the 2025 season on fire with three straight top 12 PPR finishes. Things have turned sour, though, as Johnson has finished outside the top 24 tight ends in each of the last two games.

Taysom Hill’s return in Week 5 also dings Johnson’s upside moving forward. However, Johnson’s snap rate has remained strong all year. He’s played at least 85% of offensive snaps in every game in 2025.

New Orleans faces the New England Patriots this weekend, and it’s a matchup where we could see Johnson bounce back. New England ranks 28th in DVOA against tight ends per FTN Fantasy. The Patriots have also allowed the fifth-most PPR points per game to the position this year and just allowed Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid to catch six passes for 108 receiving yards against them in Week 5.

Gamers in need of a tight end should consider Johnson a viable streaming candidate. He has a good chance to post another top 12 finish this weekend.
