Jose Siri Gets Designated for Assignment
New York Mets outfielder Jose Siri has been designated for assignment by the organization on Wednesday. Siri missed a majority of the season due to injury, but recently returned to the lineup. Since his return, Siri has gone 1-for-12 at the plate with nine strikeouts. They've decided to move on from the veteran outfielder, which seems odd given Siri only played in 16 games. In a corresponding move, outfielder Tyrone Taylor (hamstring) has been activated from the injured list. That means, Taylor will basically take over the role Siri was playing on the team. He figures to split up time with Cedric Mullins down the stretch of the season.
