Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups - Marvin Mims Jr., Kayshon Boutte, Rashod Bateman Fantasy Football Outlooks

Kayshon Boutte - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 2 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Marvin Mims Jr., Kayshon Boutte, Rashod Bateman in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is officially in the books, and the first period of waiver wire transactions is upon us. In previous seasons, there have often been players who are available on waivers who end up being massive parts of championship-winning fantasy football rosters.

That was more true in 2023 and previous seasons than it was in 2024. The community, as a whole, seems to be getting smarter about which players to draft, especially as fantasy football analysts on social media get more and more followers.

Still, you can always get an edge by picking up the right players off waivers. Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., New England Patriots wideout Kayshon Boutte, and Baltimore Ravens WR Rashod Bateman are three WRs we'll dive into today as potential waiver wire pickups. Let's get to it!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Kayshon Boutte Week 2 Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 5% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 10-12+ Team Leagues

Boutte was a surprise bright spot for the Patriots' passing offense. The Year 2 Drake Maye breakout might not be what we were expecting it to be, but Boutte was targeted eight times, catching six of his passes for 103 yards. Boutte is a solid waiver wire candidate right now, but it's not all sunshine and roses.

Multiple factors at play make me not want to spend a lot of FAAB on Boutte in leagues that have that feature. Stefon Diggs, the team's likely season-long WR1, is working his way back from an ACL tear and had nearly as many targets as Boutte despite playing much fewer snaps. Additionally, both he and tight end Hunter Henry averaged more targets per route run than Boutte.

Maye threw 46 passes, which is a massive amount, and yet Boutte only saw eight of those targets, which amounts to a 17.4 percent target share. That tied with Henry, and isn't a great number for a supposed WR1. The WR2 role in this offense might not have a ton of upside at this rate. Still, he's worth an add if you need help at wide receiver, especially in deeper leagues.

Rashod Bateman Week 2 Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 46% of Leagues

Baller Move: Stash in Deeper Leagues, Drop in Shallow Leagues

Bateman didn't do much in Week 1 of 2025. He was inconsistent in 2024, with a few big games bolstered by touchdown catches mixed in with low-volume days. Still, his 3.0 PPR fantasy points were very disappointing. It's not much of a surprise that this happened, though.

The Buffalo Bills have one of the league's best pass defenses, and struggle massively against the run. The Ravens exploited this by only passing the ball 19 times and executing 29 rushing plays. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed just 14 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

He was highly inefficient, averaging well under one yard per route run, and only saw four targets, catching two of them for 10 yards. The Ravens are an incredibly risky team to have wide receivers from, and even though the team's WR1, Zay Flowers, had a nice day, it's hard to trust any of them week-to-week.

To make matters worse, tight end Isaiah Likely (ankle) didn't play in Week 1. When he returns, he'll be earning targets of his own. So, Bateman can be dropped in most leagues outside of deep best ball leagues.

Marvin Mims Jr. Week 2 Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 56% of Leagues

Baller Move:Stash in Deeper Leagues, Drop in Shallow Leagues

There isn't much hope for Mims to be fantasy-relevant this season. He had a stretch of excellent games to cap off his 2024 season, but those are firmly in the rearview mirror after a four-target, three-catch game in Week 1. Mims gained just 12 receiving yards.

Mims failed to make an impact in the passing game. He was out-targeted by three other Broncos players, including running back Tyler Badie, and tied for fourth in targets with tight end Evan Engram. Mims managed just a 10 percent target share, as quarterback Bo Nix attempted 40 passes.

Nix also played poorly, completing just 25 of his passes for under 200 passing yards and throwing two picks. It was a miserable start to the season for the Broncos, and though they pulled out a win, it was on the back of their defense, which excelled.

If your league doesn't count punt or kick return yards, and most leagues don't, and isn't a best ball league with deep benches, it's probably better to drop Mims for someone else. He could have a few big games through this season, but he fumbled a punt return, so it's also possible his usage actually decreases as a receiver.
