Pirates Managing Mike Burrows' Innings
Mike Burrows' turn in the rotation this week, but he will be available out of the bullpen for their weekend series against the Boston Red Sox. Pirates skipper Don Kelly said the team wants to manage Burrows' innings. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023 and returned to amass 54 2/3 innings between the minors and majors last year. Burrows has already combined for 109 frames this season between Triple-A Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. The 25-year-old has made 17 appearances (16 starts) for the Pirates and logged a respectable 4.23 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP, 78 strikeouts, and 28 walks.
