Yoan Moncada Reinstated From Restricted List
Yoan Moncada from the restricted list on Friday and optioned infielder Niko Kavadas to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Moncada is back with the Halos, but he won't start in Friday's series opener in Detroit against the Tigers. Luis Rengifo is at third and will bat sixth against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. The 30-year-old Moncada was away from the team in order to get his U.S. citizenship. The Cuban switch-hitter should play occasionally for the Angels at third base now that he's back. Moncada can provide a little bit of pop but hasn't provided a whole lot of anything for fantasy managers in deeper leagues in 2025. He's returning to a weak .221/.320/.436 slash line with a .756 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 24 runs scored in only 48 games in his first year in Anaheim.
