The Minnesota Twins announced on Friday that they placed catcher Christian Vazquez (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with a left-shoulder infection and recalled catcher Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. It's unclear if Vazquez will be able to return in minimal time, but even if he does, the 34-year-old veteran backstop really isn't relevant at all in fantasy leagues. Ryan Jeffers has taken over the bulk of the playing time in Minnesota this year, and Vazquez was never much of an offensive talent to begin with. The Twins also have Mickey Gasper on the active roster, so Pereda will be the team's third catcher with Vazquez on the shelf. Vazquez has hit an ugly .174 (31-for-178) on the season with two homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored in a limited role in Minnesota.--Keith Hernandez
