Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitching prospect Bubba Chandler has enjoyed a productive campaign at Triple-A and is making a strong case to join the MLB roster in the near future.

Chander has enjoyed a dominant July after stumbling through June, which is an excellent sign for his rest-of-season outlook.

Bubba Chandler Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

After a rocky June, where Chandler posted a high 8.53 ERA with a 2.29 WHIP across just 12 2/3 innings of work, the No. 2-ranked prospect in baseball has flipped the script and begun to turn the corner. Since July 1, Chandler has made two starts (12 innings) and posted a perfect 0.00 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP.

During these 12 innings, Chandler has struck out 13 hitters and allowed only four walks. His command was an issue in June, as he served up 12 free passes over that stretch.

Seeing Chandler find his footing in such a short time is a very positive sign, suggesting he is nearing the end of his development.

However, Chandler took a big step back in his most recent outing on Friday evening, allowing five runs in just three innings of work.

Bubba Chandler Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

Before June, the right-hander appeared to be on the verge of joining the Pirates, having logged 48 2/3 innings to the tune of a 2.03 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 69:21 K:BB. During his first taste of action with Triple-A Indianapolis last season, Chandler enjoyed similar success, boasting a 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP across 39 1/3 innings.

With the Pirates likely to sell their veteran pitchers at the deadline, such as Mitch Keller, Andrew Heaney, and Bailey Falter, Chandler should be in a prime position to join the MLB roster before the end of the month.

He is a must-stash in all leagues despite his inconsistencies. Once he gets the call, he will be viewed as a must-start pitcher in all formats given his high strikeout upside.
