Brandon Young Called Up to Start on Wednesday
Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo to Norfolk in a corresponding move. Young, the team's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his third MLB start and toe the rubber against the visiting Texas Rangers on Wednesday at Camden Yards. The 26-year-old didn't fare so well in his first two major-league starts earlier this year, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits (one homer) while walking eight and striking out nine in 8 2/3 innings against the Reds and Tigers. On top of it, Young recently returned from a shoulder issue at Norfolk and only threw 65 pitches in his last outing with the Tides. The matchup against the offensively-challenged Rangers is a great one, but Young is still very risky as a fantasy streamer in deep leagues.
