If you were wondering why the NIT does not have many high-major teams, I present to you the inaugural College Basketball Crown event from Vegas. Eight of the biggest NCAA Tournament snubs sacrificed another home game or two for a trip to Vegas and a chance at a massive NIL pool. I'm interested to see how this plays out. We have some good competition for this event! Hey...it's more DFS. We're not going to say no to that!
We have Big 12 (16) teams in Arizona State and Utah, and the Big Ten (18) sends Nebraska. The A-10 sends George Washington, perhaps the least-known team in the event. The Big East sends Butler and Georgetown. We close out with Pac-2 Champ Washington State.

Micah Peavy, Georgetown ($10K)

Georgetown has been a fun team to watch this year. Their fans deserve it after what a wreck this team was last year. The Crown event is a big deal since this will operate as a type of "Senior Bowl" or "NBA Combine" for players like Peavy. It's one last chance before the draft to show his skills in a game setting.
Peavy struggled against the top of the Big East, but he shouldn't have issues against Washington State here. The Cougars didn't play great defense. We should get the full effect of Peavy here: outstanding defense and nearly 20 points.
Amier Ali, Arizona State ($5.3K)
Freshman guard Joson Sanon left for St. John's already, so there will be even more minutes available for Ali. He played well after the dismissal of BJ Freeman in February. Ali relies primarily on scoring and rebounding, but he should play enough minutes to reach at least 20 DraftKings points.
Tomas Thrastarson, Washington State ($3.9K)
Cedric Coward is NBA-bound and Nate Calmese is in the portal. That leaves Thrastarson as the elder statesman among Wazzu guards. Parker Gerrits is also expected to start if you need another value play. There is potential in this backcourt because of the price, but they only play one or the other. Georgetown's perimeter defense is legit.

Georgetown is gutted up front with Thomas Sorber out and Drew Fielder in the transfer portal. We could see another big day from Watts. Washington State is going to build around him next year. We'll see why on Day 1 in Vegas.
Tyson Degenhart, Boise State ($8.4K)
Degenhart is a unicorn in the NIL era. He spent his entire career at Boise when he could have netted a big payday elsewhere. He'll be playing his final game(s) as a Bronco in this tournament and will likely use it to showcase his potential at the next level.
Degenhart had a big Mountain West Tournament with 96 DraftKings points in three games (over three days). Expect a similarly strong showing in his last game(s) as a college player.
Rafael Castro, George Washington ($6.5K)
Castro's matchup with Degenhart is going to be must-see basketball. Castro is the leader of the George Washington team this year. He nearly averaged a double-double. His price is way too cheap despite the tougher matchup.
