There are a few things that can happen to you that feel absolutely horrible in fantasy football. Among the worst are star players getting season-ending injuries in redraft leagues. It's awful to see a cornerstone of your team and potential league-winner end up being dropped as you search for a replacement.

In Dynasty fantasy football, you at least get to look forward to their return. But when running backs get their jobs taken over and get relegated to a role with very little work, there's not much you can do. Their trade value plummets, and you're left wondering if he'll ever return to his previous volume.

And with how mercurial roles in NFL backfields are, this can happen quickly and without warning. Being stuck with an asset that plummeted in value is never good. The result is the same as trading a great player for a substantially worse one, though the process is different. So let's try to get ahead of the falls and break down a few RBs who you should sell off ahead of 2025 in Dynasty fantasy football.

Aaron Jones, RB, Minnesota Vikings

While many may view Minnestoa Vikings running back Aaron Jones as a viable starting option for 2024, the time to sell oft-injured and aging running backs is typically after their first resurgent season. And Jones had a nice year in his first with the Vikings, though the injury issues were still present.

Jones played in 17 games, logging 255 carries and 51 receptions for 1,138 rushing yards and five rushing scores, and 408 receiving yards and two reception touchdowns. While Jones was the undisputed workhorse, it's likely that a smaller role is upcoming, especially if Minnesota decides to dip into this year's stacked running back class.

Jones struggled at the goal line in particular, so drafting someone who can take the short-yardage carries would be a good idea, at least. There were also simply no reliable options behind Jones. While many believed backup RB Ty Chandler to be a potential breakout candidate, he slumped massively in Year 2. He may not even be on the team next season.

If Jones ends up on another team in 2025, it's likely his situation won't be as good as it was with the Vikings, either. Minnesota had one of the league's best offensive lines, and head coach Kevin O'Connell's schemes are dynamite in the regular season. Either way, Jones is a good player to sell before next season rolls around.

Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints

Kamara had one of the best seasons for fantasy football in his career in 2024. But he'll be 30 years old before the 2025 season, and the Saints team as a whole is in dire shape. While the schemes of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak opened up big lanes in the running game, allowing Kamara plenty of space to run, Kubiak is now with the Seattle Seahawks. The massively explosive offense from the first two weeks won't be a thing.

In addition, backup RB Kendre Miller got a good amount of volume when he was healthy. Kamara was the workhorse for most of the season, as Miller dealt with injury issues and with former head coach Dennis Allen putting him on injured reserve when he probably didn't belong. But if Miller can stay healthy for even half the season, he could cut into Kamara's workload.

Kamara's value is largely driven by massive volume, as his efficiency is much lower than it was during his prime. And he isn't the best tackle-breaker, so while he's elusive when he's not hit when he is, he often doesn't create much more with his runs than the defense gives him. Miller's better at picking up extra yardage after taking significant hits.

Also, new head coach Kellen Moore will probably do what he can to cut back on Kamara's receiving volume, as he's never been quick to get his RBs involved in the receiving game over his career. Much of AK41's value comes from his receptions, as quarterback Derek Carr loves to hyper-target him. He was Captain Checkdown in 2023, after all.

It may be that Moore won't curtail his usage in that area, but the state of the offensive line should be concerning. The Saints don't have the cap space to add serious depth, and the injuries to center Erik McCoy and right guard Cesar Ruiz devastated the team's run-blocking in 2024. They can't handle many injuries heading into 2025.

Kamara is likely to retain his usefulness in the passing game, but his abilities as a pure runner are fading. It's probably a good time to sell him off. It seems unlikely he'll match or beat his 2024 season at any future point in his career. It's also never a bad idea to sell off guys as they hit 30.

Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You should have done this before the 2024 season, but there's still time to get some nice value out of him. White averaged just 3.64 yards per carry in 2023, and though he had massive volume that year, we saw it plummet towards the end of 2024, due to the arrival of rookie running back Bucky Irving.

And offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who engineered the best RB rushing attack in the NFL with the Bucs last year, left to be the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even his genius schemes weren't enough to push White's rushing average to above 4.3 yards per carry, though. White is not a good pure runner of the football, though he's a solid pass-protector.

It's possible he could be traded, but there aren't much better situations than what he had with the Bucs last year. He just got outplayed, handily so, by a rookie. If he does get moved to another team, you should still sell him, and move on while the hopium is still alive.

White's value comes from him being on the field and available as a pass-catcher. He's one of the least elusive and least tackle-resistant RBs in the NFL right now. There are also a ton of slept-on RBs that are just better than him, like Bhayshul Tuten, RJ Harvey, Brashard Smith, and Dylan Sampson.

Trading away White for a mid to late round pick in this 2025 rookie drafts is the plan. There's a big influx of fresh talent about to hit NFL rosters, and you should buy into it. All three RBs on this list can get you a much younger player who has a chance at being a star. Like the four backs I just listed. Don't miss out!
