Colorado's Travis Hunter is one of the more exciting prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. What Hunter was able to do on both sides of the ball in his final college season with the Buffaloes was truly impressive. He played both cornerback and wide receiver at a high level this past year.
The only problem is that Hunter might not be able to play both positions in the NFL. It hasn't been done in quite some time, and playing 100 snaps every game for 17 weeks is almost impossible at this level.
So, should you pick Hunter in 2025 dynasty fantasy football rookie drafts? Let's dive in.

Travis Hunter College Stats
There's no doubt that Hunter can succeed as a wide receiver in the NFL. Just look at what he did at Colorado in 2024. He caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns across 13 games. Those 96 catches ranked tied for fifth in FBS, and his 1,258 receiving yards ranked fifth among all college wideouts.
That strong season helped Hunter win the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the best wide receiver in college football. Aside from those stats, though, the Florida native showed his potential at the position all year.

He has above-average hands and a quick release at the line of scrimmage. If Hunter only entered the 2025 NFL Draft as a wideout, he would still likely find himself going within the top 15 picks. That's how good of a wide receiver he could be in the league.
Should I Draft Travis Hunter in Fantasy Football Rookie Drafts?
Although Hunter was an exceptional wideout at Colorado, he was an even better cornerback with the Buffaloes. As a result, teams might be drafting him as a cornerback rather than a wideout. That has certainly been the early consensus among draft analysts before the NFL Combine.
Hunter was originally only going to work out with the defensive backs at the NFL Combine next week, but that has seemed to change. The former Colorado star is listed on both the defensive back and wide receiver groups. So, it appears he will get to show his talent on both sides of the ball for all 32 teams.

However, if you have a rookie draft upcoming, it might be a risk to select him early. He could wind up being a full-time cornerback in the NFL while only seeing a few packages on offense. Still, Hunter is worth a draft pick and shouldn't go undrafted in any league. Luckily, if you have a rookie draft in the summer, there should be more clarity on his situation in the NFL.
