Three Quarterbacks To Sell In Dynasty Fantasy Football Leagues

C.J. Stroud - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Joey Pollizze breaks down three QBs who are worth trading away in 2025 dynasty fantasy football leagues. Which quarterbacks should you sell ahead of the 2025 NFL season?

The NFL offseason is the most popular time for dynasty fantasy football managers to make big moves to upgrade their teams. Whether that big move is buying a handful of players to improve their roster or selling underwhelming dynasty assets for more picks, a bunch of trades will go down in the coming months.

In this article, we will identify three quarterbacks who dynasty managers should be looking to sell this offseason. These quarterbacks were shaky fantasy options for parts of the 2024 season, and it might be time to trade away these quarterbacks for other pieces.

So, which three quarterbacks should you sell in dynasty fantasy football leagues? Let's dive in and find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

After putting together one of the strongest rookie quarterback seasons in recent memory, C.J. Stroud was almost an untouchable asset for most dynasty managers heading into 2024. Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns in his first year and became just the fifth rookie in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in a season.

The former Ohio State star was also a consistent fantasy QB1 option during that 2023 rookie campaign. Stroud finished as the QB11 on the year and scored at least 20 fantasy points in seven of 15 games. As a result, he was regarded as one of the top quarterbacks to own in dynasty leagues entering his second season, especially since this was just the start for him.

However, Stroud took a major step back this past year and looked nothing like his rookie self. Although Houston won the AFC South and finished with a 10-7 record, the Texans quarterback struggled throughout the season. He threw for 3,727 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions across 17 games.

More importantly, though, Stroud was one of the bigger fantasy busts during the 2024 season. He winded up finishing as the QB18 and only scored above 18 fantasy points in four of 17 games. His 13.7 fantasy point average also ranked as the QB26 on the year, which was lower than Derek CarrAaron Rodgers, and Daniel Jones.

After Stroud's down year in 2024, he is someone dynasty managers should be looking to trade. He might be only 23 years old, but he faces an uphill battle to ever be a top-5 fantasy quarterback. He doesn't run much, so he will likely need to consistently throw for over 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns every year to finish toward the top in fantasy.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't quite been a consistent fantasy option across his five NFL seasons. He has missed plenty of time due to multiple concussions and has only played a full 17-game season once in his career. However, in the one year that Tagovailoa did play every game, he finished as the QB9 back in 2023.

That 2023 campaign was surely Tagovailoa's best season of his career. He threw for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns while leading the Dolphins to the playoffs. The gunslinging lefty was a low-end QB1 that year, but he wasn't a strong option. He finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in just five of 17 games and only averaged 16.7 fantasy points per game.

Although Tagovailoa missed six games due to injury this past season, he had better fantasy numbers than in 2023. He averaged 17.1 fantasy points per game and finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in five of 11 contests. So, the 26-year-old might have some fantasy value entering the 2025-26 campaign.

If someone in your league happens to be interested in him, you should be looking to move him. That's because there are just too many question marks surrounding Tagovailoa right now. Can the Dolphins quarterback stay healthy? How much longer will he be throwing to Tyreek Hill for? Is the best of Hill already behind us following a poor season from the wideout?

All these questions certainly make Tagovailoa a sell in dynasty. On top of that, his limited rushing gives him a lower ceiling and floor than most fantasy quarterbacks. He has rushed for under 100 yards in three straight seasons, and it's going to be hard to rely on him to throw for over 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns consistently when he has dealt with some injuries over the years.

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

Having Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young on this list might shock a lot of dynasty owners. After struggling during his entire rookie season, the former Alabama star showed noticeable improvements in the second half of this past season. Those improvements came after the young quarterback was benched for five games earlier in the year.

Once Young retook the Panthers' starting job in Week 8, though, he was a much different quarterback. He was also a more consistent fantasy option following the team's Week 11 bye. The 23-year-old averaged 21.2 fantasy points per game over the final seven games and totaled 16 touchdowns (11 passing and five rushing) during that span.

However, Young is someone dynasty managers should be looking to trade away. Although the Panthers quarterback showed some great things in the second half of the season, his fantasy value has shot up too high over the past two months. For example, his value on KeepTradeCut in Superflex formats is equal to DeVonta SmithJosh Jacobs, and Jordan Addison.

Of course, quarterbacks are extremely valuable in Superflex formats, but Young will still be a risk entering next season. He scored under 17 fantasy points in four of the final seven weeks and only threw multiple passing touchdowns in a game three times during that span. Being only 23 years old certainly works on his side, which has made him a potentially solid dynasty asset.

Nevertheless, trading him away while his value is this high might be the best move for your fantasy team. You could flip him to acquire Dak Prescott and picks or trade him straight up for J.J. McCarthy. Either way, getting rid of Young after his strong end to the season could be a smart decision. His accuracy rating ranked 23rd among quarterbacks this past year.
