Through the early stages of 2025, the elite iron play that accompanied Davis Thompson's sophomore season last year has not been present. The 25-year-old has yet to gain strokes on approach through the first four starts at an average of -0.685. Every other metric is somewhat positive, but that still hasn't translated to a finish he should be satisfied with. He'll be making his third career start at the WM Phoenix Open with mixed results in the first two (T15 and a missed cut), but given the approach woes, he'll be difficult to trust without that part of his game coming back around. He is still a masterful driver of the golf ball, and his approach numbers between 50-125 yards (15'2") is ranked 26th on the PGA Tour. However, buyers of Thompson this week should be informed of the risks currently associated with him.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller
