What Time is 'Monday Night Football?' Week 3 NFL Schedule

Ja'Marr Chase - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

What time are the "Monday Night Football" games for Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season? Bruce looks at all the details, including who is playing and how each team can win.

This season, the schedule-makers for the NFL waited until Week 3 to provide us with a pseudo-double-header, with two games set to kick off approximately 45 minutes apart.

The four teams slated for the Monday Night games are all sitting in different positions entering the week. The 0-2 Jacksonville Jaguars will hit the road to play against the 2-0 Buffalo Bills, while the 1-1 Washington Commanders are set to travel to play the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals.

This piece will break down Week 3's Monday Night Football games, highlighting the teams, start times, and key players to watch.

Who is Playing on "Monday Night Football?"

As mentioned above, Week 3 wraps up with two nearly simultaneous games. Both matchups feature a team desperate to notch a win while facing a team hoping to continue a winning streak.

The Jaguars have looked worse this season than they had hoped, scoring a measly 15 points per game. There is some hope for optimism for them: both losses they've had were by a combined eight points. Their hands will be full with the undefeated Bills team that is second in the AFC in point differential through two games.

Kicking off shortly after will feature the Washington Commanders, coming off their first win of the season that saw kicker Austin Seibert score every point of their 21-18 victory over the New York Giants in Week 2. They will be playing against a disappointing Cincinnati team that dropped both of their first matchups, including a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

When and How Can I Watch The Game(s)?

The first Monday Night Football game this week starts at 7:30 p.m. EST, and the second game starts 45 minutes later, at 8:15 p.m. EST. How you watch it will depend on how you typically consume television.

The first of the two games (Jacksonville @ Buffalo) is going to air on ESPN and ESPN+. The second game (Washington @ Cincinnati) will air on ABC and ESPN+ as well.

Additionally, if you consume live television through other streaming sites (such as Hulu+, YouTubeTV, or Sling), both ABC and ESPN are usually streamable, though some exclusions apply. The costs of those apps vary.

Who is Going to Win?

Both home teams are pretty heavy favorites, with Buffalo favored by five points over Jacksonville and Cincinnati favored by seven points.

It's difficult to predict Buffalo's offensive game plan in Week 3, given that Week 1 showed an offense based around Josh Allen's unique quarterbacking archetype, while Week 2 showcased running back James Cook heavily against the Miami Dolphins' defensive front. Jacksonville will need to be prepared for either style of attack.

Jacksonville's defense needs to be able to make more consistent stops to beat the Bills. The Jaguars' defense has not helped their dismal offense; the average drive for Jaguars' opponents is the sixth-longest in the league. Both sides of the ball need to focus on healthy conversion rates to have a chance to get a victory for the first time this season.

In the second game, you'll see two teams on different trajectories: the Bengals were hoping to be one of the AFC elites, while Washington is just focused on developing rookie Jayden Daniels.

The Bengals looked more like themselves in Week 2 than in their loss to the New England Patriots the week before. Cincinnati's defense has been playing solid football so far but will need to bolster their rush defense to compete with Washinngton's top-6 rushing attack.

Washington will face a challenge on defense. The Commanders' secondary is arguably the worst in the league, and with the Bengals' potent passing attack bolstered by a returning Tee Higgins, it'll be a tough slate.

Washington's way to win is to control the clock with their competent rushing attack and put Cincinnati in unfavorable game scripts. Even that would be difficult given the offensive scheme for the Bengals, but stranger things have happened.
