Top-5 MLB Pitching Prospects To Stash For Week 22 Fantasy Baseball Redraft Leagues (2024)

Cade Povich - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rookie Rankings

Andy's top-5 MLB pitching prospects in fantasy baseball who can be stashed on your bench for Week 22 (2024) in fantasy baseball redraft leagues.

Welcome back to our top starting pitcher fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 22 of the 2024 MLB season. Today, we'll be taking a look at top MLB pitching prospects, including a few new faces who have been performing very well at Triple-A.

Several of the sport's top pitching prospects who have been recurring members of this column, such as Zebby Matthews, Spencer Schwellenbach, and David Festa, have begun to settle in at the major league level and are no longer "stash" options. As a result, we have a few new faces making this column for the first time.

As the baseball season progresses, top prospects can have the opportunity to replace an injured player and immediately become valuable in fantasy. Below are five pitching prospects worth stashing in redraft leagues in Week 22. One of these players recently made their major league debut, and a few are nearing the call to the big leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Top Fantasy Baseball Prospect Stashes

Bubba Chandler - Pittsburgh Pirates (Currently At Triple-A, 2% rostered)

The top prospect in the Steel City has made two starts in Triple-A so far and has looked nothing short of incredible. Through 13 frames, he has yet to allow a run while carrying a near-perfect 0.77 WHIP with a 3:17 BB:K ratio.

Earlier this season at Double-A, the southpaw flashed his high-upside strikeout potential by punching out 94 batters in 80 innings of work while carrying a 3.70 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP.

While the Pirates may have fallen out of the playoff race, Chandler will likely be the name called upon if they are looking for a spark or a promising debut down the stretch. Given his production at Triple-A, the former third-round selection currently sits as the No. 41 prospect in the entire sport and could be up in a matter of weeks.

Rhett Lowder - Cincinnati Reds (Currently At Double-A, 2% rostered)

The former seventh overall pick in last year’s draft made his pro debut this summer and could be in play for a late-season promotion.

Lowder debuted at High-A and pitched a solid 2.49 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 25 innings. Then, the Wake Forest product moved up to Double-A, where he currently pitches with a 4.31 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 77 ⅓ innings.

On the surface, it may look like Lowder needs some more time to get settled in at Double-A Chattanooga, but he has begun to turn the corner over the past month and might not only be nearing Triple-A but potentially the big leagues.

Since July 9, the right-hander carries a stellar 1.06 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP through 34 innings of work. In addition, the Reds placed ace Hunter Greene (elbow) on the 15-day IL over the weekend, which could eventually open the door for their budding star.

Jacob Misiorowski - Milwaukee Brewers (Currently At Triple-A, 3% rostered)

The top prospect in Milwaukee has transitioned to a relief role since joining Triple-A Nashville, and this may be a sign that the Brewers want him on their playoff roster.

The right-hander logged two starts at Triple-A but was clearly on an innings limit, as he was tasked with just pitching the opening frame. However, in his two past games, the former second-round pick has moved to the pen and has logged 3 ⅔ perfect innings with five strikeouts.

At Double-A this summer, the right-hander posted a 3.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 50:105 BB:K ratio in 79 ⅔ frames of work.

The Brewers are en route to clinching a division championship and have their sights set on competing in October. Misiorowski could be deployed as a high-leverage option down the stretch, produce dominant ratios, and be in line to see plenty of holds pitching on a solid team that will likely be turning it over to Devin Williams as the surefire ninth-inning option.

Cade Povich - Baltimore Orioles (Currently At Triple-A, 3% rostered)

The Nebraska product has had a few minor stints in the big leagues this season. He was recently called upon to make a spot start on August 17 against the Boston Red Sox and performed quite well, throwing 6 ⅓ frames of two-run ball while striking out six.

Overall, through his first 43 ⅔ major league innings, the No. 5 prospect in Baltimore has had some inconsistent performances. He holds a 5.77 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP. However, at Triple-A Norfolk through 77 frames, he has posted a 3.48 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP.

While Povich has not adjusted completely to the majors, it is promising to see the Orioles call on him first when they need another arm in their rotation. Given how promising his previous start went, Povich may only need a quick tune-up at Norfolk before returning to the major leagues as a full-time option.

Jackson Jobe - Detroit Tigers (Currently At Double-A, 12% rostered)

Once again, rounding out this list is the top pitching prospect in the sport.

The last time we checked on Jobe, we saw that his walk rate was climbing quite high. However, in his past two starts on August 13 and August 18, the right-hander allowed just four walks through 11 1/3 innings while striking out nine and surrendering two runs.

The former No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft has posted an incredible 2.14 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 32:65 BB:K ratio in 59 innings at Double-A. While his walk rate is still slightly inflated, this recent start is a good sign that he may be turning the corner.

With the Tigers out of the playoff picture, they may give their young budding ace a shot at the big leagues to prepare him for next season. Even if he only gets a handful of starts, he could be a viable asset down the stretch.
