Miguel Vargas is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 9 (2024). Target Miguel Vargas as a top prospect free-agent add for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 15+ Team Leagues/NL-Only
ROSTERED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted second baseman/outfielder Miguel Vargas from Triple-A on Friday, May 17.
Vargas struggled during his first extended look at major league pitching last season with a disappointing .195/.305/.367 slash line across 81 games. The 24-year-old tallied just seven home runs and only swiped three bags.
Despite his struggles in the major league last season, Vargas has been a standout player in Triple-A this year. His impressive performance, including a .295/.436/.583 slash line, eight home runs, and a remarkable 34:30 BB:K ratio has earned him an early-season promotion.

This move resulted in the demotion of outfielder James Outman. As a result, Vargas will likely play most of his time in the corner outfield spots in a platoon role rotating with Jason Heyward (back), who is expected to be activated from the injured list very soon.
Considering Miguel Vargas' recent promotion, he could be a valuable addition to deeper leagues. However, managers in shallower leagues might want to wait until Vargas’ role is clearly defined before making a decision to add him to their roster.
