Tua Tagovailoa's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 17 (2023). Should you should start or sit Tua Tagovailoa for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in Deeper Leagues / All 2QB Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Higher-end QB2
ANALYSIS: Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is hovering outside of QB1 territory on the year as he sits at 13th. He hasn't posted a QB1-level week since Week 13 when he finished as the QB10 against the Washington Commanders. Despite leading the team to wins over the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets, he finished as the QB22 and QB23.
Tagovailoa tends to land on either extreme, if he isn't a high QB1, then he disappoints by a wide margin. This time around, he's dealing with a left thumb and quad issue. In addition, star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has been ruled out and as of Saturday night, Raheem Mostert is not expected to play in Week 17.
Going up against the highest-scoring defense that just forced five interceptions against the San Francisco 49ers is worrisome for any fantasy managers thinking of starting Tagovailoa. He can be considered a QB2 heading into this tougher matchup.
