Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Top College Fantasy Football Players Week 14 (2023)

Quinn Ewers - Fantasy Football Rankings, College FB, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers

Mike Marteny takes a look at 2023 breakout collegiate stars that will be available in your fantasy football dynasty drafts within the next year or two. Who shined in Week 14 of the 2023 season?

There were only 10 conference championships on the line last weekend, but there were still some performances that NFL dynasty players need to be aware of. Most players can pile up stats on a winless regular season foe. Not everyone can do it when the stakes are highest.

There were a few playoff games last weekend. This was the last time that so much will be riding on a conference championship. Who came up with the best performances when their teams needed them most? These are the guys that we really want to pay attention to.

I will highlight one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver, and one tight end every week of the college season who put up some really big numbers. I'll let you know what it means for your dynasty leagues. Do these guys have NFL futures? You'll find out!

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Quarterbacks

Quinn Ewers, Texas (35-46, 452 yards, 4 TD, INT) vs. Oklahoma State

Think about all of the high-profile quarterbacks that have played in a Big 12 title game in the last 20 years (there was a seven-year hiatus between 2011 and 2017). Michael Bishop, Colt McCoy, Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, Vince Young, Max Duggan, Josh Heupel, Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield...the list is loaded with Heisman candidates, Heisman winners, and NFL starting quarterbacks. None of them did what Ewers did this year.

Scouts have gushed about the ability of Ewers long before he became the first million-dollar NIL deal. At 6'2" and 195 pounds with a cannon for a right arm, he may as well have been made in some top-secret quarterback lab. However, this is the first time that Ewers has put together a huge statistical game.

Ewers is another one of those guys that could cause dynasty players to pass on a QB in the first round this year in hopes of snagging Ewers in the second round of dynasty drafts. This QB class is loaded and Ewers could get lost in the shuffle...or some rich Texas booster could give him more money than the NFL will and bring him back to Austin.

Honorable mention: Kaidon Salter, Liberty

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Running Backs

Kimani Vidal, Troy (26 carries, 233 yards, 5 TD) vs. Appalachian State

More history was made on Saturday! Perhaps the most surprising part of this is that was only Vidal's third-highest rushing total this season! This was his fifth career 200+ yard game and all of them were for more than 230 yards.

Vidal might go into the draft this year, so those of you in bowl pools, be careful. He doesn't have much left to prove in college. Many scouts have predicted that Vidal could enter the portal instead of going pro as Jahmyr Gibbs did, go to a major program, and significantly increase his draft stock. You dynasty players may have to wait another year.

Vidal would be worth the wait. At 5'8" and 215 pounds, he's built like Barry Sanders. He doesn't run like Barry (in fairness, no one does, has, or likely ever will), but the body type is similar. NFL teams will have room for Vidal on early downs.

Honorable mention: Ashton Jeanty, Boise State, Dillon Johnson, Washington

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Wide Receivers

CJ Daniels, Liberty (7 receptions, 157 yards, TD) vs. New Mexico State

Daniels sometimes got lost in the shuffle of Liberty's run-first offense this year, but he still hauled in 47 passes for 988 yards and 10 touchdowns. He wasn't highly recruited coming out of high school, only garnering offers from North Dakota State, Army, Navy, and Air Force before accepting the Liberty offer.

Since committing to the Flames, Daniels has grown a couple of inches to 6'2" and put on more than 20 pounds to end up at 200. He has the height to play on the outside at the next level and should be able to hold his own against NFL corners. Wide receivers are a dime a dozen though, and Daniels never really stood out in college. Don't be shocked if he sticks around unless he goes nuclear in the bowl game against Oregon.

Honorable mention: Jalen McMillan, Washington

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Tight Ends

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas (8 receptions, 105 yards. TD) vs. Oklahoma State

Sanders had good numbers this year, but with Texas running the ball a lot as they did last year, the passing game numbers struggled for everyone. This isn't a reflection of Sanders' skills. He is Kyle Pitts. Sanders is a superb athlete with great hands and route running prowess. Now, if only Sanders can wind up on an NFL team that knows how to use him...

Honorable mention: Brock Bowers, Georgia
