Tight end Dalton Schultz has found a home with the Houston Texans. The writing was on the wall for the former Stanford standout when the Dallas Cowboys drafted Jake Ferguson last year. However, he stayed in-state after agreeing to a one-year, $6.25 million deal with the Texans.

With how he's playing lately, he could earn a contract extension with the AFC South squad. He has been one of quarterback C.J. Stroud’s favorite targets, which helped increase his production during Houston’s last three games.

That trend won’t end soon, making him a great fantasy football pickup for Week 7. The Texans’ upcoming opponents can provide an excellent opportunity for Schultz to register a monster game.

Is Dalton Schultz Trending Up?

Schultz started slow for the Texans, tallying only eight receptions for 47 yards and zero touchdowns from Weeks 1 to 3. However, Stroud’s maturity in the pocket boosted Schultz’s numbers starting in Week 4. That week, he had 13.2 fantasy points in PPR mode courtesy of three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He improved his output in Week 5 versus the Atlanta Falcons, collecting seven catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers translate to an impressive 19.5 points in PPR. In Week 6, Schultz had four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints, good for 16.1 points.

At 3-3, the Texans are still within striking distance of division leaders Jacksonville Jaguars. They can use their Week 7 bye to regroup and heal to finish the season strongly. After which, they will visit the winless Carolina Panthers in Week 8.

Dalton Schultz Fantasy Football Outlook

Through six weeks, the Panthers are ranked 15^th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends (9.2) per game. Surprisingly, they are ranked 11^th in passing yards allowed (197.8) per game. However, they are third worst in rushing yards allowed (144.3) and second worst in points allowed (31) per game.

Establishing the run could be a strategy Houston can use against Carolina. But Stroud will not abandon the passing game, with Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary underwhelming through Week 6. Therefore, pick Dalton Schultz if you need a scoring boost at tight end because he will have another solid display in Week 8.
