Is Cole Beasley A Good Fit For The Giants? Fantasy Football Outlook

Did the Giants sign Cole Beasley? Is Cole Beasley A Good Fit For The Giants? 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook.

New York Giants wide receiver Cole Beasley was an undrafted free agent in 2012. The former SMU wide receiver signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Beasley spent seven years with the Cowboys, totaling 319 receptions on 450 targets for 3,271 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns in 103 games. His best year came in 2016. The veteran had 75 receptions on 98 targets for 833 receiving yards and five touchdowns that season.

After spending seven years in Dallas, Beasley signed with the Buffalo Bills. The veteran spent three years with the Bills from 2019 through 2021. He had 231 receptions on 325 targets for 2,438 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 46 games.

What Did Cole Beasley Accomplish In 2022?

The veteran wide receiver didn’t do much last season. He started the year unsigned, missing the first two weeks. However, Beasley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, totaling three receptions on four targets for 12 receiving yards in his first game with the team. However, the former undrafted free agent only played two games with the Buccaneers before retiring.

After spending nearly three months in retirement, Beasley re-signed with the Bills. Unfortunately, the veteran didn’t have much of an impact in his return to Buffalo. He only played in two contests, totaling two receptions on two targets for 18 receiving yards.

Is Cole Beasley A Good Fit For The Giants?

Many believed the veteran wide receiver's career was over after last season. However, the Giants signed Beasley earlier today. The former Bill is reunited with Brian Daboll, his former offensive coordinator in Buffalo.

The veteran will give Daniel Jones a trustworthy wide receiver in the middle part of the field. However, the move doesn’t make sense. The Giants signed several wide receivers this offseason. Unfortunately, they are all suited for the slot receiver role.

New York added Parris Campbell, Jamison Crowder, and now Beasley in free agency. Furthermore, the Giants re-signed Sterling Shepard this offseason. More importantly, Wan’Dale Robinson was their second-round pick in 2022. All five wide receivers belong in the slot.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton, and Jalin Hyatt are the team’s top three outside wide receivers. While Hodgins and Slayton had some impressive moments last season, the Giants lack an alpha No. 1 wide receiver on the roster.

Adding Beasley makes sense for New York. He knows Daboll’s offense and can provide early-season help with Shepard and Robinson coming off injuries. However, the veteran has no fantasy value this year.
