Last night, the Seattle Storm picked up their first win of the year, which means every WNBA team has a win now! Last night also featured one of the most exciting games of the season, an overtime win for the Sky over the Fever. Now, we're back tonight with two games on the WNBA docket: the Liberty host the Lynx, and the Wings host the Mercury.
If you're looking for WNBA daily fantasy picks and some betting advice this season, then you're in the right place. I'll be here providing picks for any slate with two or more games, as well as adding a little betting advice as well.
In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. These lineup picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. WNBA DFS Picks: Forward
Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty) - vs. MIN - DK: $10,800, FD: $9,400
While she's still the highest-priced forward on FanDuel, Stewart's slipped to third-highest on this slate on DraftKings despite averaging more DraftKings points than any other forward on the slate. Makes her a pretty obvious play over on that platform, though her ceiling makes her a top play on both.
Stewart has scored 19 or more points in five consecutive games, with double-doubles in four of those. Last time out against Chicago, Stewart shook off a slow start to finish 8-for-14 from the floor with 20 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal.
Despite the Liberty lineup being full of offensive threats, Stewart has clearly established herself as the top weapon. Stew York City, amirite???
Natasha Howard (Dallas Wings) - vs. IND - DK: $9,700, FD: $8,100
On a slate with just two games, you have a lot fewer options than usual, so to optimize how I can improve the bottom half of my lineup, I'm choosing to go with Natasha Howard over her more expensive teammate Satou Sabally, because those little savings can matter and because Howard still has a high floor and high ceiling.
She's not on the floor as consistently much as Sabally, largely because of foul trouble—Howard has four of more fouls in three straight games, and she fouled out in 22 minutes last time out. But that game was the first of the season where she had under 30 DraftKings points, so if Howard can stay out of foul trouble then she's a threat to score in high teens, grab double-digit rebounds, and make multiple threes.
Dorka Juhasz (Minnesota Lynx) - @ NY - DK: $6,400, FD: $5,200
After playing over the first five games, the rookie has now played 30-plus minutes in Minnesota's past two contests. In the first one against the Sun, she saw 37 minutes of action, going 2-for-4 with seven points and adding nine rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.
Last game, she played 34 minutes in Minnesota's win over the Mystics, scoring seven points on 2-for-6 shooting with eight boards and three assists. The team's lack of frontcourt depth has them starting both Juhasz and Jessica Shepard, with the only true big off the bench now being Nikolina Milic, who played just four minutes last game. Because of that, we should continue to see Juhasz get heavy minutes for the Lynx.
WNBA DFS Picks: Guard
Veronica Burton (Dallas Wings) - vs. PHO - DK: $8,300, FD: $6,100
Crystal Dangerfield has already been ruled out of this game and the Wings are bringing in Odyssey Sims on a hardship. Sims will get some playing time, but I'd imagine Burton—the second-year guard out of Northwestern—will be the primary point guard and will be on the floor as much as possible. I'd expect her to play over 35 minutes unless she gets into foul trouble.
For example, Burton played 37 minutes last game. She scored a season-high 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting and drained multiple threes for the second game in a row. She also grabbed six rebounds, marking the third game in a row that she's had at least five boards. And she added seven assists as well—Burton has really shown promise as a passer lately and her 5.2 assists per game rank eighth in the WNBA right now.
Tiffany Mitchell (Minnesota Lynx) - @ NY - DK: $7,800, FD: $5,700
Minnesota's "make Tiffany Mitchell a point guard" experiment has had some pretty good results, as she's averaging career highs in assists and rebounds, plus is on track for her best season scoring since 2020.
Mitchell has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and last time out she grabbed a season-high seven rebounds. A little foul trouble cut her minutes down to 28, but before that she's played 30-plus minutes in four consecutive games. Mitchell's not going to set the world on fire, but she's got a pretty high floor at a pretty good DFS price.
Sug Sutton (Phoenix Mercury) - @ DAL - DK: $6,900, FD: $5,100
The Mercury have gotten healthy. I expected that would mean Sug Sutton would kind of fade down the depth chart when that happened, just because she hasn't been with the team as long as some other players on the roster. But Sutton's played her way into a firm spot in this rotation.
Sutton's now played 30-plus minutes in three straight games and has scored in double figures in all four games this season. Last time out against the Sparks, we got to see her playmaking skills that we hadn't seen since college, as she dished out six assists. Really good value here with Sutton based on her recent play.
The biggest worry is that Shey Peddy eats into her minutes, as Peddy played just eight minutes in her return last game. But coming off a torn Achilles, I don't expect Peddy to get serious minutes for at least a little longer, so even if Sutton's minutes do fall, I doubt it happens as soon as tonight—will probably be a couple weeks until Peddy really starts to threaten Sutton.
