Andrew Lennox's top DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS plays and research for January 23rd, 2023, including DFS analysis for goalies, power plays, and stacks.

Good morning, RotoBallers! We have a light Monday with only four games on the slate. Several matchups will be intriguing to follow throughout the night. I will try to navigate you through this light Monday schedule and help you find some goalscorers for those DFS lineups.

As we get later in the season, every game has added significance as teams are battling to make the playoffs. As a result, the stakes are high with a four-game slate on tap. Join me as we navigate this crucial slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.

NHL DFS Goalies

Jake Oettinger- DK $8.0K | FD $8.6K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

On Monday, Oettinger is expected to take the crease against the Sabres. He recently recorded a shutout, stopping all 33 shots against Arizona, earning his fourth shutout of the season. Although the Sabres have a potent offense, Oettinger has only allowed more than four goals in a game on four occasions this year. He has been on a roll, securing seven victories in his last 10 games, and should feel confident heading into Monday's matchup after back-to-back wins for the Stars.

NHL DFS Centers

Auston Matthews -DK $8.6K | FD $10.0K

Opponent - New York Islanders

Despite the game's outcome, Matthews put in a solid performance against Montreal on Saturday with an assist, one hit, and three shots on goal. His impressive nine-game point streak continues with seven goals and five assists. Looking at Monday's contest, the Islanders may have a decent defense, but their weakness lies in the high-danger scoring chances they've allowed, ranking third-worst in the league. This presents a prime opportunity for Matthews to capitalize on their defensive shortcomings.

Nazeem Kadri -DK $5.9K | FD $7.1K

Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets

On Monday, Kadri presents an excellent value at the center position when the Flames take on the struggling Blue Jackets. His salary on DraftKings and FanDuel is significantly lower than other top centers like Auston Matthews and Tage Thompson. In Calgary's last game on January 7, Kadri scored a power-play goal, recorded two penalty minutes, and registered three shots on goal. He has accumulated four goals, four assists, and 34 shots in the past 10 games. The Blue Jackets have a poor defense, ranking third-worst in the league in Goals Against Per 60 at 3.89 and second-worst in Shots Against Per 60 at 34.85. With Kadri's recent production and the Blue Jackets' struggles on the road (3-15-1), the Flames could have a strong outing.

Matthew Tkachuk -DK $7.5K | FD $9.7K

Opponent - New York Rangers

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk has been in top form lately, amassing seven goals and nine assists in the past 10 games. Tkachuk's scoring has undoubtedly been a critical factor in the team's success, as they've gone 7-2-1 in recent contests. The Panthers will face a formidable opponent in New York, but Florida has been scoring at an impressive rate, ranking sixth in Goals per 60 at 3.38. They've been particularly potent in the last five games, scoring 23 times.

Patrik Laine -DK $7.0K| FD $7.7K 

Opponent - Calgary Flames

On Monday, Laine could be a cost-effective choice for DFS lineups as he goes up against the Flames. He had a solid performance in the last game, scoring, assisting on another goal, and recording four shots on goal. With a recent string of success, Laine has recorded nine points and four goals in his last seven games. As one of the top offensive options for the Blue Jackets, Laine could be a valuable asset in the game against Calgary.

NHL DFS Defensemen

Rasmus Dahlin- DK $7.4 | FD $8.6K

Opponent - Dallas Stars

As the season progresses, Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabres continues to prove himself as a formidable force on the ice. In the team's last 10 games, he's amassed three goals and 11 assists. On Monday, Dahlin has the potential to continue his point streak against the Dallas Stars. He's a reliable presence on defense, leading his team in shots with 126 and blocked shots with 76. Although the Stars have had a solid overall performance this season, the Sabres should have no problem finding the back of the net, currently ranking fifth in the league with 2.85 Goals Per 60.

Miro Heiskanen- DK $5.9K | FD $7.1K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

Consider adding Dallas defenseman Miro Heiskanen to your DFS lineup. He had a solid performance in Saturday's game, registering two assists, one shot on goal, and one blocked shot in the 4-0 win over the Coyotes. Heiskanen has been on a roll lately, with two goals and eight assists in the last 10 games, and he is valuable to the Stars' first power-play unit. With the team's power play ranking sixth-best in the league at 26.29 percent, Heiskanen has an excellent chance to rack up some points if Buffalo takes a lot of penalties in the game.
