Today's NHL DFS Lineup Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel (11/5/22): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Mark Kieffer's top DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS value plays and research for November 5th, 2022 including DFS analysis for goalies, power plays, and stacks.

It is Saturday, November 5th, 2022 and after a small one-game midday slate and a one-game night slate, the NHL is back with a 10-game slate tonight!

I'll be bringing you my NHL lineup picks, analysis, and advice for NHL DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at 7:o0 PM EST. Be sure to also check out our awesome NHL tools, including our Lineup Optimizer, Research Station, Projections, and DFS Cheat Sheets!

If you have any questions on today's slate, bankroll management, GPP strategy, Cash game strategy, or anything else, don’t hesitate to hit me up via Twitter @Mark_Kieffer or in our NHL discord. Good luck, RotoBallers!

NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/5/22

With a 10-game slate, I consider this a medium-sized slate. There are enough spots that people can go to, but small enough to develop a consensus and either ride the chalk or fade it for a better pivot. When there are 13-15 game slates, it feels like you have to be perfect to win.

You can check out the latest here: Vegas Odds for the Day

So how do we separate the teams? Price is a factor, and whether teams are on a back-to-back is another factor, along with the upcoming schedule. Pick the very best spots you can find and hope that it is enough to cash!

As always, ensure the goalie in your lineup is confirmed before the lineup lock! There is nothing worse than having a great lineup but taking a zero at goalie. This has happened to me before and it stinks!

NHL DFS Goalies

Andrei Vasilevskiy DK $8.2K || FD $8.5K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

I like the spot Tampa Bay is in here, playing Buffalo at home and while Buffalo is the second game of a back-to-back. Vasilevskiy has a 4-3-1 record, a 2.87 GAA, and a .911 SV% on the season. He is coming off a game where he made 52 saves for a .945 SV%. With him having played on Tuesday and Thursday this week, there is a chance he sits this one out. If Brian Elliott ends up getting the start, I'd probably look elsewhere rather than the straight pivot.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Bobrovsky (DK $7.9K || FD $8.2K), Ullmark (DK $7.6K || FD $8.3K - GPP only)

NHL DFS Centers

Jack Eichel -DK $7.3K || FD $8.4K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Generally, I like to spend up for Center but I do not love the price and matchup for many of the top options. I do like Jack Eichel here against the Montreal Canadiens. Eichel has 13 points and 42 shots on goal in 12 games played. When he is aggressive, he produces, and the hope is that he can do that tonight.

Jack Hughes -DK $6.9K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Calgary Flames

I touted Jack Hughes last time out and he came up empty, and here I am touting him again. Hughes has 10 points in 11 games played along with 46 shots on goal. Anytime I can get a player that averages over four shots on goal per game at a discount I am interested regardless of matchup. I want guys that shoot the puck.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Barkov (DK $7.5K || FD $7.7K), W. Karlsson (DK $3.7K || FD $5.2K)

NHL DFS Wings

Timo Meier- DK $7.1K || FD $6.8K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Timo Meier averages 5.09 shots on goal per game and faces an Anaheim Ducks team that allows the most shots on goal per game in the league. The shot volume has translated to just four goals scored, but on DraftKings, he has reached the five shots on goal bonus in eight of his 11 games played this year. It is amazing he is a mid-priced option.

Alex Ovechkin- DK $7.6K || FD $8.0K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

Alex Ovechkin is going to be on my radar all season in good spots, as he is 16 goals behind Gordie Howe for No. 2 on the all-time list. Arizona allows the second most shots on goal and Ovechkin himself averages 3.83 shots on goal per game. He has 10 points in 12 games on the season and this is a spot where he could add a couple more points.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): DeBrincat (DK $6.9K || FD $8.2K), Terry (DK $6.5K || FD $7.5K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Erik Karlsson- DK $7.8K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

It feels like a total fish move to write up Karlsson here as he is in a midst of a hot streak that could either continue or end at any time. He has seven goals, five assists, and 23 shots on goal in his last four games played. He now faces the team that allows the most shots on goal and has the second-worst penalty kill in the league. It feels like he should have a good game, but he has gotten very expensive and will be difficult to fit into lineups if paying up at other skater positions.

Noah Hanifin- DK $4.0K || FD $4.7K

Opponent - New Jersey Devils

I am not really into targeting the Devils with how well they are playing but Hanifin is cheap and on the second power-play unit, giving him more upside than other value guys on the slate. He averages 2.6 shots on goal per game but has no points on the season. Last year he averaged 2.33 shots on goal per game and had 48 points on the season.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Sergachev (DK $6.4K || FD $5.9K), Lindholm (DK $5.9K || FD $5.8K)

NHL DFS Top Stacks

There are so many good spots to go to on this slate. Here is a handful I like:

  • WAS 1: Arizona allows the second most shots on goal per game.
  • SJ PP1: Anaheim has the second-worst penalty kill in the league and allows the most shots on goal.
  • TAM 1: Buffalo has been playing pretty well, but they will be on a back-to-back while Tampa Bay is more rested and at home.
  • VGK 1 or 2:  If looking for a main stack, VGK 1 offers some upside. If looking for more of a filler stack, VGK2 should provide a nice value. Montreal has a good penalty kill, so while I like having some power play correlation (both lines have partial correlation), I am not trying to target the Power Play here.
  • NSH 1: This is correlated to the first power play. Vancouver has the worst penalty kill in the league. Both goalies have a SV% under .900 this season. With goaltending issues, this could be sneaky for Nashville as they have not made a ton of noise this year.
