NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 10/27/22

Every game except for Kings-Jets (6.0 total)  is posted with a 6.5 total. It would seem that 6.5 would be the default that most books are doing. That means for DFS we have to find the teams that are in a good spot, in good form, and provide a good value.

You can check out the latest here: Vegas Odds for the Day

As always, ensure the goalie in your lineup is confirmed before the lineup lock! There is nothing worse than having a great lineup but taking a zero at goalie. This has happened to me before and it stinks!

NHL DFS Goalies

Jake Oettinger DK $8.0K || FD $8.5K

Opponent - Washington Capitals

Jake Oettinger has had a great start to the season. He is 4-1 with a 1.41 GAA, .953 SV%, and is averaging 19.8 DraftKings points per game and 22.27 FanDuel points per game. Dallas is a home favorite in this one. Oettinger should see a decent number of shots but he is really stepping his game up and should get a lot of saves too with a chance to win.

Oettinger does lead the league in saves above expected so some regression is due for Oettinger. That said, being at home and playing a Washington team that is playing average at best, let's hope the hot streak continues.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Bobrovsky (DK $8.3K || FD $7.5K), Fleury (DK $7.7K || FD $6.6K - GPP only)

NHL DFS Centers

John Tavares -DK $6.3K || FD $8.2K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

John Tavares leads the league with five expected goals and he has three goals with five assists. He is also averaging 3.85 shots on goal per game. With Toronto going to San Jose, they should be big favorites. That said, Toronto often looks past weak opponents and struggles. With a road game like this, my lean is going to be on the second line rather than the first.

Joel Eriksson Ek -DK $5.7K || FD $6.8K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Joel Eriksson Ek is having a great start to the season. He has four goals and one assist through Minnesota's first six games. He is also averaging four shots on goal per game. He leads the Wild in expected goals this year as well. What I like best about playing Ek is that one can play him stand alone to his shot-taking, pair him with a linemate on that third line, or pair him with anyone on the first power play.

A power play stack in GPPs isn't a bad idea as Ottawa has the 10th-worst penalty kill in the league. In cash games, its is safer to pair with just one other player.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): McDavid (DK $9.5K || FD $10.1K), Barkov (DK $6.5K || FD $8.0K)

NHL DFS Wings

William Nylander- DK $6.0K || FD $7.5K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Nylander makes for a good pairing with Tavares because they are on the same even-strength line and also skate on the same Power Play unit. He has four goals and three assists through seven games this year. He also averages 3.71 shots on goal per game.

David Pastrnak- DK $8.7K || FD $10.4K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

David Pastrnak has five goals and seven assists through seven games this year. He is a shot-taking machine with 40 shots on goal in seven games or 5.71 shots per game. Although not listed above, Pastrnak can be paired with David Krejci if looking for some correlation.

On a slate with Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews, Pastrnak is the guy I want to spend up for. Depending on how news shakes out later, it might be difficult to fit more than one high-priced player in a lineup without punting in several spots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): B. Tkachuk (DK $7.6K || FD $9.9K), Forsberg (DK $6.8K || FD $6.8K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Rasmus Dahlin- DK $7.5K || FD $7.5K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

While Dahlin's goal-scoring streak came to a halt, his point-scoring streak continues. Dahlin has five goals, four assists and averages 3.16 shots on goal per game. Dahlin would be difficult to fit in a lineup with many of the suggestions above; it is difficult to leave him out at the moment of any write-up until he cools completely off.

Calen Addison- DK $4.0K || FD $4.7K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Calen Addison is a staple for me in many lineups as he is one of the least expensive defensemen that play on a team's top power-play unit. Addison has six assists in six games played as well. While his upside may be limited, at this price point he is solid for cash games.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Grzelcyk (DK $4.6K || FD $5.0K) , Durzi (DK $3.7K || FD $4.8K)

NHL DFS Top Stacks

There are so many good spots to go to on this slate. Here is a handful I like:

  • FLA2/FLA PP1: I like Florida tonight. I also liked them against Chicago and that was way wrong. Bennet and M. Tkachuk are on the same even strength line and same power play. Carter Hart is third in goals saved above expected and is likely due for some regression at some point.
  • BUF1: Montreal is a good team to pick on. Wil others go there with me?
  • NSH1: This is game two of a back-to-back for Saint Louis where they started Binnington last night.
  • MN PP1:  As mentioned earlier, Ottawa has the 10th-worst penalty kill and taking pieces of the Minnesota Power Play will be a way to get different in a tournament.
