DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Thursday 10/20 - Week 8 Daily College Fantasy Football

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Thursday Week 8 (10/20/22). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

Considering how awful the Thursday night games have been in the NFL, I'm going out on the shortest limb in history and saying that college football is going to be where the action is! We have the Fun Belt and the ACC. What more could you want?

Both games start at the same time, so we have a nice, no-holds-barred, four-hour tilt-fest. Who's as pumped about this as I am? We have the struggling Wahoos of Virginia heading to Atlanta to take on the Wreck. A couple of hours southwest of there, we have Troy heading to Mobile to take on the Jags. This is going to be a fun one!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/20/22 locking at 7:30 pm eastern time. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Brennan Armstrong, Virginia ($7,000)

Armstrong can't possibly have regressed this much since last year...the talent is still there...blah blah blah. I've said it all this year and the only thing that is certain is that this is either not a good system for Armstrong, or he's slow in learning it. Either way, it has amounted to a disastrous season for the Hoos. Armstrong had his first 300-yard game of the season against Louisville before the bye, but he still threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. I want to say the ceiling is high on Armstrong, but it's not. He's the floor guy right now. Troy has been outstanding on the back end, so I'm not hurrying to pay up for Bradley. That leaves me with Armstrong, who should be serviceable, but he's not going to break the slate.

Jeff Sims, Georgia Tech ($6,200)

Georgia Tech has been quiet about the availability of Sims after he left late in the win against Duke, but it has been 12 days since the injury. It didn't look all that serious, so I would hope that he's able to play. If not, we have to play roulette with Troy. Jarret Doege played well enough to take the job and did see reps against Texas State and threw the go-ahead touchdown pass. I want to avoid that mess if possible, but we have little to go on with Zach Gibson if Sims can't go. If Sims is in, he's in a smash spot with a high ceiling against a struggling Virginia team.

Also consider: Carter Bradley, South Alabama ($8,300); Jarret Doege, Troy ($5,500)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Perris Jones, Virginia ($6,400)

Running back is tough on this slate. There is uncertainty in the South Alabama backfield, and though Louisville was able to take Jones out of the running game, he is active enough in the passing game that he should retain value. Georgia Tech has allowed 181 rushing yards per game so far this year, but the date with Ole Miss is skewing those numbers a little. Still, this is a good spot for Jones. Whether the Virginia offense can take advantage of it is the question.

Hassan Hall, Georgia Tech ($5,200)

The Louisville transfer has been a nice addition to Tech's backfield and a suitable replacement for Jahmyr Gibbs who fled to Tuscaloosa. Hall is getting the lion's share of carries over the last couple of games and has turned that into 227 yards. The problem is that Hall still hasn't found the end zone this year. If Sims is out, Hall could be primed for a huge game since his TD sniper will be on the sidelines. I still like Hall regardless of the status of Sims, but he's a must-play if Sims sits.

Also consider: Kimani Vidal, Troy ($5,700); Marco Lee, South Alabama ($4,900); DK Billingsley, Troy ($3,200)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Caullin Lacy, South Alabama ($6,400)

Wayne gets most of the headlines, but Lacy has 17 receptions for 245 yards and a touchdown over the last two games. Carter Bradley is looking towards Lacy a lot of late, which has me leaning more towards Lacy for the sure points. I particularly like Lacy in this game since Troy has been very good about keeping the ball in front of them. In fact, that was the problem with the Hail Mary in the loss to Appalachian State. That means the Jags are going to have to look to Lacy more since Troy should be able to harass Wayne.

Tez Johnson, Troy ($6,200)

Regardless of who has been under center for the Trojans, Johnson has been the popular target. He hasn't been under 80 yards since the loss to Appalachian State and has scored a touchdown in three straight games. Johnson has emerged as the big play receiver for Troy. He should be in line for at least one of those tonight.

Keytaon Thompson, Virginia ($6,000)

Thompson literally does a little bit of everything. He was the starting quarterback for Mississippi State before transferring to Virginia, but he has thrown a few passes here as well. Virginia just wants the ball in his hands since he is easily their most explosive player. That means carries out of the backfield and plenty of targets in the passing game. Thompson has at least five receptions against every FBS opponent.

Leo Blackburn, Georgia Tech ($3,100)

Blackburn hauled in three passes in his collegiate debut against Duke that was delayed because of a torn ACL before the 2021 season. Blackburn fit seamlessly into the offense and even scored a touchdown. Blackburn is a nice dart throw in GPP formats given the price and the upside. He's worth a shot even if Sims can't go.

Also consider: Jalen Wayne, South Alabama ($6,900); Dontayvion Wicks, Virginia ($5,600); Nate McCollum, Georgia Tech ($4,900); Devin Voisin, South Alabama ($4,600)
