DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/23/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on August 23rd, 2022. Mark Kieffer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

It's Tuesday, August 23rd and we have a full slate of MLB games going on today. With it being in the middle of the week, late in the summer, it's a great time to play some MLB DFS.

This article has daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 8/23/2022, Main Slate at 7:05 pm Eastern Time. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. The main slate is 14 games on DraftKings and 13 games on FanDuel as Game 2 of the Cardinals-Cubs doubleheader is not on FanDuel.

Today's MLB Weather Outlook

There is rain forecasted in New York for Mets-Yankees and Boston for Blue Jays - Red Sox. It's unclear how significant the rain will be, but it is something to check on closer to lineup lock.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Dylan Cease- P, CWS @ BAL ($10,000 DK, $10,300 FD)

To me, Corbin BurnesCarlos Rodon, and Dylan Cease are all similar on this slate and Cease is the least expensive of those three. Burnes against the Dodgers, I am not as interested in but Rodon against the Tigers is a pretty sweet matchup if you can swing the case to get all the way up to him.

Cease has a 3.26 SIERA and a 32.3% strikeout rate -- the highest strikeout rate on the slate. The issue is that he allows walks. Too many walks at times. With a 10.5% walk rate, there is always a risk of him blowing up or at least putting together an average or below-average start.

Pablo Lopez- P, MIA @ OAK ($8,100 DK, $8,800 FD)

If looking to spend less than the $9K+ tier, Lopez is in a good spot here pitching in Oakland tonight. Yes, he has a 7.04 ERA in August but pitching in Oakland against Oakland should provide a boost.

Austin Voth- P, BAL vs. CWS ($6,300 DK, $7,600 FD)

It's hard to believe I am recommending Voth. There was once a time he was a hyped prospect I had too much of in my fantasy leagues and paid the price for. He has a 2.22 ERA in the second half of the season, at home, against a weak offense. I wouldn't prioritize getting him in my lineup but he's a good punt option if needed.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Kyle Farmer 3B, CIN vs. Ranger Suarez ($3,800 DK, $2,800 FD)

Farmer has a .402 wOBA and .224 ISO against LHP.

Brad Miller- SS, TEX vs. German Marquez ($2,000 DK, $2,600 FD)

A shortstop punt play at Coors Field? I'm in.

Vaughn Grissom- 2B, ATL vs. JT Brubaker ($2,300 DK, $3,400 FD)

A nice punt play on DraftKings, he is relatively expensive on FanDuel. Three home runs and two steals in 13 games played. Great small sample size numbers. On FanDuel, Ketel Marte at $2,900 against Jon Heasley might be a better play,

Daniel Vogelbach- 1B, NYM vs. Frankie Montas ($3,800 DK, $2,600 FD)

Normally I wouldn't target Frankie Montas, but he has pitched poorly since donning the pinstripes. He has allowed 14 runs in 14 innings pitched in his three starts with New York. I always like lefties in Yankee Stadium

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jesse Winker- OF, SEA vs. Erick Fedde ($4,000 DK, $3,000 FD)

Winker has a .348 wOBA and .183 ISO in the second half of the season.

Mitch Haniger- OF, SEA vs. Erick Fedde ($4,000 DK, $3,600 FD)

On DraftKings, he is a better value and someone I'd pair with Jesse Winker in a cash game even.

Drew Waters- OF, KC vs. Zach Davies ($2,000 DK, $2,000 FD)

This kid is supposed to be the truth and Zach Davies isn't some ace to worry about.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are a few stacks I am really liking today outside of Coors Field (Coors is always a stacking option)

  • Seattle Mariners- Erick Fedde has a 5.08 SIERA and is always someone to target in DFS.
  • San Francisco Giants - Drew Hutchinson has a 5.14 SIERA and a 4.5% K-BB%. Risk is always guys getting pinch hit for later in the game.
  • Miami Marlins-  This would be a sneaky stack because this offense isn't good and is in a pitcher's park. Logue has a 5.33 SIERA and allows 1.99 HR/9 though.
  • Arizona Diamondbacks - Jon Heasley is bad and the bullpen behind him is the worst in baseball.
  • Houston Astros - Expensive, so people might stay away but has the upside to win a GPP, especially going against Aaron Sanchez and his 4.44 SIERA.
