Shohei Ohtani Won't Pitch Saturday
Shohei Ohtani will not pitch on Saturday in spring training against the Chicago White Sox, but he is not injured. Instead, Ohtani will serve as the designated hitter. The two-way phenom and 2021 American League MVP will still pitch on Opening Day for the Halos against the Houston Astros, so fantasy managers have nothing to freak out about. The 27-year-old Japanese hurler posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, a 29.3% strikeout rate and a career-low 8.3% walk rate in 23 starts covering 130 1/3 innings in 2021. Ohtani gets an extra day of rest over most starters, but he's still RotoBaller's No. 3 fantasy starter after his groundbreaking 2021 campaign as both a pitcher and hitter.
