Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/22/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

By Arturo Pardavila III on Flickr [CC BY 2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Yahoo DFS advice and daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 5/22/17 by Justin Klein. MLB DFS player recommendations for your Yahoo daily tournaments and GPPs.

Happy Monday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are nine games on the docket Monday with all of them happening in the evening. All nine of the night games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. The start times of the nine games that are connected to the GPP contests range from 7:05 to 9:40 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/22/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Baltimore Orioles against Kyle Gibson and the Minnesota Twins at home in the hitter friendly confines of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Not only has Gibson been awful this season as evidenced by his 8.20 ERA and 6.49 FIP, but he's also struggled mightily against Baltimore. In his career he's only faced Orioles hitters in 81 at bats, but in that span he's allowed them to post a triple slash of .296/.366/.556 with 24 hits including six doubles and five HR.

The Chicago Cubs host Ty Blach and the Giants at home at Wrigley Field on Monday night as long as the rain holds off. I like everyone on the Cubs on Monday night to some degree, but my favorite plays are Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Anthony Rizzo, Ian Happ and SP John Lackey. I expect the Cubs to score a ton of runs and for Lackey to post solid numbers in a runaway Cubs victory. Join me and stack up the Cubbies on Monday evening.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Michael Pineda vs KC ($45)

Pineda and the Yankees are strong -178 favorites over Danny Duffy and the Royals at home at Yankee Stadium. This is largely due to the fact that the Royals have had the worst offense in the league this season, because Danny Duffy is a pretty solid SP. According to the MLB Lineup Generator, that you can access with a Rotoballer Premium membership, the Royals are projected for only 3.25 runs Monday evening. When you combine that with Pineda's strikeout ability there is a solid floor and rather high ceiling for Monday night. In his last outing Michael struck out five while allowing three earned runs across six innings in a win while notching 17.9 fantasy points. I expect similar numbers tonight, so join me and get him into all of your lineups.

John Lackey vs SF ($38)

Lackey and the Cubs are a huge -200 favorite at home against Ty Blach and the Giants on Monday evening. At just $38 Lackey is a solid matchup play and a nice value on Monday. With over nine strikeouts per nine I like John to pile up the K's while posting solid ratios in a likely Cubs win. For less than forty dollars I love Lackey on Monday night.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Gary Sanchez vs KC ($19)

Gary Sanchez all day, every day. If you think I recommend Gary just about every day it's because I do. Sanchez is an impact player behind the dish and his price tag is not unreasonable. He's a solid play against anyone in any park. On Monday evening he'll face off with LHP Jason Vargas and that bodes well for Gary and his owners in the fake game. In his carer at home Sanchez has managed an insane .360 ISO against LHP.

First Base (1B) - Anthony Rizzo vs SF ($17)

Anthony Rizzo has had a bit of a tough start to the season, but he should be in for a solid evening on Monday as he faces off with LHP Ty Blach and the Giants. This is because he's managed to post a solid .270/.394/.460 slash line in his career against southpaws to go with a .191 ISO, .377 wOBA and a 139 wRC+.

Second Base (2B) - Ben Zobrist vs SF ($13)

Ben Zobrist at just $13 is probably a good play against anyone, but at that price against a weak LHP at home he's a strong play. In his career against LHP Zobrist has triple slashed .289/.370/.453 with a .358 wOBA and a 127 wRC+. On Monday night Ben will likely hit first or second in a lineup that should generate a ton of runs. He's at a low price and has a terrific matchup. Don't miss your layups folks.

Third Base (3B) - Manny Machado - vs MIN ($18)

Manny Machado and the Orioles face off with RHP Kyle Gibson and the Twins at home at Orioles Park at Camden Yards and as I posted above in the stack section I love the Orioles on Monday night. In his career against RHP at home in Baltimore Manny has posted an enormous .228 ISO, .364 wOBA and a 127 wRC+.

Shortstop (SS) - Francisco Lindor at CIN ($15)

Lindor and the Indians get to take their at bats against RHP Scott Feldman at the hitter friendly Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati on Monday night. This is a good thing for Francisco as he's triple slashed a solid .299/.354/.462 with a .349 wOBA and a 119 wRC+.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Adam Jones vs MIN ($12)

As I mentioned above I love the Orioles on Monday night against RHP Kyle Gibson and the Twins. In his career against RHP at home Jones has triple slashed an impressive .298/.339/.509 with a .211 ISO, .365 wOBA and a wRC+ of 125. Adam will likely hit second in the Orioles lineup and I expect him to be a big part of the output by the birds on Monday night.

Carlos Gonzalez at PHI ($11)

Cargo has been fairly cold to begin the season, but he has an extremely long track record of success in his career, especially against RHP. On Monday night he'll take his at bats against RHP Jerad Eickhoff and the Phillies at the bandbox known as Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia. In his career against RHP Cargo has notched a .913 OPS, .249 ISO, .387 wOBA and a 129 wRC+. For just eleven bucks Cargo is a great value play on Monday night.

Seth Smith vs MIN ($12)

Seth Smith will lead off against RHP Kyle Gibson and the Twins on Monday night and therefore should be in the mix on what I expect to be a lot of scoring. Smith has been great against RHP at home in his career as he's notched a .285/.366/.515 triple slash with a .230 ISO, .377 wOBA and a 133 wRC+.  At twelve bucks Smith is both a great value play and a tremendous matchup play as well.
