Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 9:
Jameson Williams, WR, Lions
Trade Value: 26.8
ROS Rank: 87
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator John Morton said that he is going to do a better job at getting wide receiver Jameson Williams "more involved," according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. Morton told Williams he's "failed him" so far. "He just goes and plays. Like I told him, 'I wouldn't fault you if you're pissed at me,'"
Morton said. Many fantasy managers will have Williams sitting on their benches coming out of the team's Week 8 bye when they face the division-rival Minnesota Vikings this weekend, but don't be surprised if Williams gets the squeaky-wheel treatment after failing to catch his two targets in the Week 7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 24-year-old has had two or fewer targets in two of the last three games and hasn't had a 100-yard performance for Detroit since Week 2 back on Sept. 14. Williams will likely continue to be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy wideout in a Lions offense with lots of mouths to feed.
Verdict: Buy low if possible; the Lions are reportedly looking to get him more involved
Tez Johnson, WR, Buccaneers
Trade Value: 15.2
ROS Rank: 129
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Tez Johnson has strung together four straight games of at least 6.8 fantasy points in half-PPR formats. His early success came on the back of big plays, but he's now seen at least six targets in back-to-back games.
While the Buccaneers' passing attack has struggled as a whole over the past two weeks, Johnson has managed a respectable nine catches for 101 yards and a score over that time. With the Buccaneers on a Week 9 bye and Chris Godwin nearing a return, there's a chance Johnson could be dropped this week, making him an intriguing add for those with the luxury of not needing an immediate plug-and-play starter.
Brighter days should be ahead for the Buccaneers' passing attack, and Tez Johnson looks as if he will be a major part of it.
Verdict: Sneaky buy candidate with a significant chance to be a second-half breakout
Tyjae Spears, RB, Titans
Trade Value: 18.8
ROS Rank: 110
Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears is beginning to carve out a larger role in the offense. After missing the first four games with a high-ankle sprain, Spears has impressed since returning, averaging 5.5 yards per carry on 23 attempts.
Offensive Coordinator Nick Holz praised his Week 8 performance, calling it "a good reminder of what he can do with the ball in his hands." With Tony Pollard at the center of trade rumors, Spears could see a noticeable uptick in touches moving forward.
While Tennessee's upcoming schedule is challenging, Spears' explosiveness and versatility as a pass-catcher give him the upside to be a potential league-winner down the stretch.
Verdict: Buy low or for a fair price if possible with trade rumors swirling around Tony Pollard
Hollywood Brown, WR, Chiefs
Trade Value: 14.6
ROS Rank: 133
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (illness) was absent from practice on Wednesday. Brown failed to haul in his lone target on Monday night against the Commanders and has struggled to remain fantasy relevant with the return of Rashee Rice.
In the two games since Rice returned, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown has seen a total of five targets, resulting in two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown.
If the veteran wide receiver continues to miss time this week, fantasy owners should be comfortable benching the big-play receiver ahead of a Week 9 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
Verdict: Sell if possible; Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce own the consistent target volume for now
Fantasy Football Trade Rankings Values
The higher the Trade Value number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Find your players, add up the trade values of each side of the offer, and see which side of the trade wins.
Who Should I Trade For?
Week 9 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, Justin Fields, Dalton Kincaid, Tez Johnson, Tyjae Spears, Marquise Brown. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.
Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.
How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.
How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
