Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf finally delivered the big yardage game that had been missing through the first three weeks. Metcalf caught five of nine targets for a game-high 115 yards in Thursday night's 27-24 loss to Cleveland, surpassing the 98 receiving yards he had totaled over the first three games combined. Most of the damage came after halftime. He hauled in a 43-yard pass early in the fourth quarter to help jump-start Pittsburgh's comeback, then came up with catches of 22 and 28 yards on the late drive that eventually tied the game.
Metcalf did not score, but the nine targets were a welcome jump after he saw only five against Cincinnati in Week 3. He now has 16 catches for 213 yards and one touchdown through four games. The production had been quiet to start the year, but Thursday was easily his most productive performance of the season.
Jakobi Meyers, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has been the team's second WR this season and is in a pair of favorable matchups the next two weeks. He has actually played more snaps than any other WR for the Jags, although Parker Washington is getting more targets.
Meyers has two touchdowns in his four games this season and has 10 catches for 97 yards in the last two weeks in wins over the Patriots and Bengals. He can be a deep-league FLEX option in the next two weeks as the Jaguars face the Eagles and the Texans in their two games in London. Both the Eagles and Texans rank in the top 10 in most fantasy points allowed to receivers this season, and Meyers is involved enough to bring upside from the waiver wire if you need short-term help at the position due to bye weeks or injuries.
Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (leg) found the end zone for the first time this season in the team's Week 4 win over the Bills, helping him to finish as the RB13 on the week, but he is not expected to practice on Wednesday after limping off the field late in the game.
Stevenson appeared to check on his knee after a run for no gain on the final drive of the game, but he was later seen moving without any visible discomfort. Fantasy managers will need to monitor the team's injury report for an official designation ahead of a Week 5 matchup with the Raiders, and should Stevenson miss time, TreVeyon Henderson becomes a must-start player.
Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh called wide receiver Ladd McConkey (foot) day-to-day on Tuesday, according to Kris Rhim of ESPN. It comes a day after McConkey was considered week-to-week after aggravating a foot injury and being pulled from Sunday's Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 24-year-old gave his fantasy managers a donut over the weekend, failing to catch either of his two targets in Seattle before leaving the contest and not returning.
McConkey's foot injury is not serious, but it remains to be seen if he will be able to do enough in practice this week to receive the green light to suit up this Sunday at home against the division-rival Denver Broncos. And if the former first-rounder from Georgia does play in Week 5, he could have his snaps managed, making him a risky option in starting fantasy lineups.
McConkey had five catches for 82 yards and his first touchdown of the year in the season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but he has caught only seven passes on 11 targets for 101 yards in the last three games combined. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on McConkey's practice participation this week.
