Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Andrews got off to a very slow start in 2024, too. He scored 3.4 and 9.1 PPR points in Week 1 and Week 2 before dropping two straight goose eggs, failing to haul in either of his targets in the next two weeks. He got back on track shortly afterwards, though, catching four touchdowns in the next four weeks. Andrews scored 11 receiving touchdowns last season. Those plays accounted for 77 PPR fantasy points, or over 40 percent of his production.
He's a heavily touchdown-dependent player who doesn't see enough targets to have good fantasy games if he can't haul in scores. The Ravens simply haven't thrown the ball his way much. He was still a good separator last season, so it's a bit strange that they've used him so sparingly. Still, he struggled massively early last season, then bounced back with a ton of TD catches.
It's probably not a great idea to drop him. Tight ends can remain in their prime well into their 30s. It's worth noting he did almost have a touchdown catch in Week 2, but had the ball punched out by a defender before he could complete the process of the catch, as you can see in the play above.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is off to a slow start in 2025. The veteran tight end has caught just seven passes for 77 scoreless yards through two games while at the same time getting overshadowed by rookie Harold Fannin Jr., who has 12 grabs for 111 yards.
Njoku will try to turn things around at home against a hot Green Bay Packers team in Week 3. The Packers might help him get going as they have been generous to opposing tight ends through two games, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position.
That being said, the combination of an ineffective Cleveland offense and Fannin siphoning tight-end looks away from Njoku leaves him as a mid-range TE2 in fantasy this weekend.
Hunter Henry, TE, New England Patriots
New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry is a risky fantasy option for Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he impressed with 66 yards back in the season opener, Henry came back down to earth with just one catch for nine yards last weekend.
His target share has been volatile, and he lost a portion of his snaps to Austin Hooper in Week 2. Hooper finished that game with a 62 percent snap share, which was nearly double his snap share from Week 1. While we've seen that Henry can have fantasy relevance even when Hooper is involved, it's still a factor to consider when weighing whether to start Henry in fantasy football.
Looking at this week's matchup, the Steelers have allowed the 12th-most fantasy points to tight ends in 2025. RotoBaller's experts are ranking Henry as the overall TE16 this week.
T.J. Hockenson, TE, Minnesota Vikings
Faced with another solid opportunity for production, Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson is a low-end TE1 candidate against the Cincinnati Bengals, though fantasy managers could certainly be forgiven for being leery about his potential following two straight duds.
The veteran tight end is facing a plus matchup for tight ends against the Bengals' defense, but is also coming into the game with four catches, 27 total yards, and zero red-zone targets in two games. Most concerning, the Vikings will be without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and could be starting three offensive linemen -- from left tackle to center -- with a combined two NFL starts.
It's clear the Vikings are going to have to be more creative offensively in the following weeks, however, and that should mean more involvement for Hockenson.
Cade Otton, TE, Tampa Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton hasn't put together an ideal start to the season. Luckily, last week Otton was at least able to contribute after a dud in the season opener. Otton hauled in three of his four targets for 25 yards in the win over the Houston Texans.
The hope is that Otton will see his role in the receiving game increase as the season goes on. The Bucs are shorthanded at wide receiver with Chris Godwin (ankle) and Jalen McMillan (neck) out. Also, rookie Emeka Egbuka (hip, groin) is listed as questionable for the Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets.
That being said, Otton figures to see a larger role because the Bucs don't have many weapons on offense. However, Otton hasn't given fantasy managers much reason to trust him. He should be considered a low-end streaming option until he proves otherwise.
