Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Tre' Harris, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wideout Tre' Harris offers intriguing upside on Sunday against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders. Harris could be forced into the WR2 role with Ladd McConkey (ribs) being listed as questionable. McConkey exited Week 1 after taking a big hit and was held out of practice until participating in a limited amount on Friday.
Harris enters Week 2 as RotoBaller's PPR WR70 in a favorable matchup against the Raiders' secondary. Raiders defense allowed 220 passing yards and five 20-plus-yard passing plays to a shaky Miami Dolphins passing game last week.
This could be the opportunity Harris stockholders have been waiting for to see their fantasy investment break out in an expanded role. Harris is a viable flex option in deeper leagues and carries an unknown ceiling heading into Week 2.
Antonio Williams, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders rookie wide receiver Antonio Williams had an outstanding NFL debut, catching all four of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown. The rookie third-rounder looked great despite seeing limited action and was among the top waiver adds this week.
Williams ran only 11 routes in Week 1, but posted an absurd 5.82 yards per route run, which ranked only behind Zay Flowers (minimum 10 routes). Williams has almost certainly earned himself an expanded role in Washington's offense, especially with tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) ruled out for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams is ranked as RotoBaller's WR65 in PPR leagues for Week 2.
Jaylin Noel, Houston Texans
Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel is an intriguing option for DFS value and streaming in Week 2, since his team will be without star WR Nico Collins (hamstring). In Week 1, the second-year slot receiver played only 30% of offensive snaps but caught both his targets for 53 receiving yards, the second-highest total on the team.
Noel had five catches for 63 yards in the one game that Collins missed in the middle of last season, and he could see a huge target increase with Collins unavailable. The Bengals' defense was solid in Week 1 against the Bucs, but Noel could be set for enough volume to still be an excellent value option to consider. Even with more work, though, he's only RotoBaller's No. 64 WR for Week 2, so there's still significant risk along with his upside.
Mike Washington Jr., Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. saw seven carries for 41 yards and was not involved in the passing game in a 27-13 Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins. He played well behind starter Ashton Jeanty, who saw 50 offensive snaps, compared to just 13 snaps for Washington. Entering a Week 2 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington will continue to play behind Jeanty, but he should see some touches of his own.
Earlier this week, Las Vegas offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko called Washington an "explosive" player and mentioned that the Raiders want to "maximize his talents." In a Week 1 loss, the Chargers allowed the Arizona Cardinals to rush for 116 yards and a touchdown, although L.A. only allowed 3.4 yards per carry.
Washington enters Week 2 as RotoBaller's No. 56 running back, and he is projected to score 3.2 points. Washington does not offer much more appeal than a desperation flex play.
Chris Rodriguez Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. should be viewed as a bench stash heading into Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. The 26-year-old back only had six touches in a blowout victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, and was less efficient on the ground than both Bhayshul Tuten and Ameer Abdullah. He could be relied on a bit more in a much tougher game, but it is hard to trust him in fantasy lineups.
He is still listed as a co-starter with Tuten on the depth chart, but the allocated touches in Week 1 didn't line up with that sentiment (16 touches to six). However, the snap share was more even, with Tuten playing 28 snaps and Rodriguez Jr. playing 23. Despite decent playing time, only desperate fantasy managers should consider starting Rodriguez Jr. against the Broncos.
