Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
Oronde Gadsden, TE, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden led the team in receiving yards (68) and tied for second in targets during last week's win over the Tennessee Titans. He has quickly become a trusted red-zone option for Justin Herbert, with seven red-zone targets over the past four games.
Heading into Week 10, Gadsden faces a favorable matchup against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has struggled against the tight end position, allowing the sixth-most yards and tying for the second-most touchdowns to the position this year.
Although the Steelers' defense contained the Indianapolis Colts' rookie tight end, Tyler Warren, last week, the overall trend favors Gadsden's usage and effectiveness. He is shaping up as a mid-range TE1 with clear upside. RotoBaller ranks him as TE4 this week and should be started in all formats.
Emeka Egbuka, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka has seen a significant drop-off since his tremendous start to the season. Over the last three games, Egbuka has been held to under 50 receiving yards in two of those contests.
The targets have been there, but the rookie wideout and quarterback Baker Mayfield haven't been on the same page lately. It's worth noting that Egbuka was nursing a hamstring injury, so hopefully he's back to full health after the bye week.
The Bucs will need Egbuka to rebound this weekend against the New England Patriots. Fantasy managers need to keep plugging Egbuka into their lineups and hope he's able to get back to his elite ways.
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints, and head coach Dave Canales acknowledged that he's concerned about the rookie's status. However, if McMillan does suit up on Sunday, he'll rank as a low-end WR2 and should be started in all fantasy leagues.
The 22-year-old has found plenty of success in his first pro season, catching 41 passes for 558 yards and two touchdowns while ranking as the overall WR21 in PPR leagues. He's a high-volume target in an offense that passes the ball a decent amount; he had both a 100-yard game and a multi-touchdown game within the first six weeks of his NFL debut.
McMillan is a strong WR2 option for the rest of the season, but as long as he's on the injury report, managers will need to confirm his availability 90 minutes before kickoff.
Harold Fannin, TE, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. (hamstring) missed practice on Thursday and was limited in Friday's session ahead of a Week 10 road matchup against the New York Jets. Fannin was on bye in Week 9, so it is unclear when exactly the rookie picked up the ailment.
Officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game, Fannin would go up against a Jets defense that is allowing the 15th-most fantasy points per game to tight ends if he ultimately ends up playing. If Fannin is unable to give it a go, David Njoku would see an increased workload and could be treated as a solid mid-range TE1 in fantasy leagues.
Fantasy managers counting on Fannin will want to monitor the news leading up to kickoff at 1:00 PM EST on Sunda,y as he could end up as a game-time decision. If Fannin plays, he will be on the fantasy radar as a solid TE2.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt has struggled over the past four games, totaling just 157 yards on 51 carries and no touchdowns. Croskey-Merritt's 3.1 yards per carry ranks sixth lowest among running backs with at least 25 carries in that span.
That comes after a five-game stretch to begin the season where the rookie seventh-rounder was one of the best stories in the league, averaging a league-best 6.6 yards per carry and a ridiculous 72.1% success rate. Croskey-Merritt also owned the second-highest explosive run rate (15+ yards) at 11.6% in that time, but has not generated a single explosive run over the past four weeks.
With third-year back Chris Rodriguez Jr. coming off his best game of the season against Seattle and being named a team captain for Sunday's matchup against the Lions, Croskey-Merritt may cede more work to Rodriguez. With a lack of involvement in the pass game, Croskey-Merritt finds himself in low-end RB3 territory for Week 10, ranking as RotoBaller's RB33 in PPR leagues.
