Fantasy Football Draft Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider drafting in 2025:
Tre Harris, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Tre Harris landed in one of the best possible situations for a first-year wideout, especially considering his skill set and limitations. He was drafted in the second round, so he has solid draft capital, and he'll join WR Ladd McConkey.
It appeared that Harris would be in the mix to be the team's No. 2 WR, but with veteran Keenan Allen returning to Los Angeles, Harris may be in danger of losing some targets. While there are valid questions about Harris' athleticism, as he ran a 4.54-second 40-yard dash and doesn't have the explosiveness to sell his routes as ideally as he could, playing with quarterback Justin Herbert helps quite a bit.
Herbert has a rocket launcher of an arm, and his completion percentage and passer rating are phenomenal when throwing to receivers running the routes that Harris performed best in -- namely, slant routes and comeback routes. Harris will have McConkey to help draw coverage priority away from him as well.
While he might not thrive on deep passes in the NFL owing to his lack of pure speed, he could be an excellent chain-mover and still earn plenty of targets. Herbert should unlock his potential, and he is worth a look later in drafts as a high-upside bench stash if he were to carve out a full-time role.
Jayden Higgins, WR, Houston Texans
Rookie Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins is stepping into a golden opportunity. Higgins was drafted with the No. 2 pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With wide receivers Tank Dell (knee) and Stefon Diggs dealing with injury and departing in free agency, respectively, the Texans had a massive void to fill opposite No. 1 option Nico Collins.
Like Collins, Higgins is a 6-foot-4 athletic freak. He ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and provides the Texans with a combination of a deep threat and red zone target. Higgins was relatively productive over the last couple of seasons in the NCAA. In 2024, he recorded 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns on 87 receptions. He is a volume king with serious touchdown upside.
The Texans' wide receiver room is crowded, but Higgins is clearly the second-most talented among the bunch. Additionally, new acquisitions Jaylin Noel and Christian Kirk are slot players and should not compete with Higgins for playing time. As such, Higgins could be in a clear starting role in Week 1. Having a player like Collins on the other side of the field will open lanes for Higgins at every level. This is a player who could easily finish as a WR2 this season.
Considering that he is currently being drafted outside of the top 50 at the position and RotoBaller has him ranked as WR53, he could be an immense steal in fantasy drafts, as he should be, at minimum, a flex option throughout the season.
Luther Burden, WR, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears selected former Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III with the 39th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Once considered a first-round talent, Burden's junior season was disappointing as he only recorded 676 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
His sophomore season was much more promising, as he went for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns through the air. Burden is often compared to Washington Commanders receiver Deebo Samuel Sr., and could take on an Amon-Ra St. Brown-esque role in first-year head coach Ben Johnson's offense. However, Burden has to compete for touches with Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland, and DJ Moore.
He has also missed a significant amount of time in summer camps with a soft tissue injury, but was able to overcome this and participate in the preseason. Given his crowded situation, Burden is rightfully priced as the WR53 and could either boom or bust this season. He is best viewed as a high-upside stash that could carve out a role later in the season.
Kyle Williams, WR, New England Patriots
The New England Patriots chose wide receiver Kyle Williams in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He'll join a team that needs help at wide receiver. New England did sign WR Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract in the offseason. He's 31 years old, and he tore his ACL around midseason last year. Diggs has been cleared to start the season and will be one of New England's top targets.
Williams, meanwhile, was one of the most underrated WRs in all of the 2025 draft cycle. His release package is excellent, and yet the offense Williams was in didn't ask him to run a lot of polished NFL receiver routes.
His skills after the catch and with the ball in his hands are one culprit for that, yet they'll be a boon in the NFL as well. Williams should secure the New England's WR3 role behind DeMario Douglas and Diggs. Williams is worth a late-round flier and is currently WR65 in the latest RotoBaller rankings.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, the team's seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has the opportunity to emerge and be an impactful player in fantasy football. Croskey-Meritt played only one game at Arizona last season due to an eligibility issue, but he was incredibly productive in 2023 at New Mexico.
He had one of the best rushing seasons in school history, as his 1,190 rushing yards ranked seventh all-time and his 17 touchdowns ranked third. The underlying metrics reveal plenty of promise as well for Croskey-Merritt, as he posted an excellent 0.34 missed tackles forced per attempt and an 11.2 percent breakaway rate in that season.
The seventh-rounder has a prime opportunity with Brian Robinson Jr.'s tenure in Washington reaching the end, but he shares some competition. Veteran Austin Ekeler will continue to be heavily involved, and third-year back Chris Rodriguez Jr. is likely to factor into the mix for touches as well. If the team plans to keep four running backs, Jeremy McNichols is another guy who was efficient with his touches last season and stout in pass protection.
However, Croskey-Merritt has the most juice and suddenness in the running back room. The team has been vocal in their intent to get more explosive plays on the ground, an area where Robinson was lacking. Croskey-Merritt has solid size at 5'10", 206 pounds to go with 4.45 speed. He posted an elite 1.50-second 10-yard split, the seventh-best in the historic running back class.
Pairing that with Washington's rushing attack under Jayden Daniels, Croskey-Merritt's athletic and statistical profiles could make him a natural fit to produce right away. He's a great upside bet to make in all formats as his ADP continues to rise.
