Kenneth Walker (oblique) missed all the practices in Week 12 and was initially listed as doubtful, but then he was inactive for the Seahawks' Thanksgiving Day game against the 49ers.
Kenneth Walker Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Kenneth Walker will attempt to return to the field in Week 13 in a road game against the Dallas Cowboys. Walker was not placed on the injured reserve, and he tried to get ready to play this week, but he just couldn't. So there should be optimism that he can play against the Cowboys.
The timeline for oblique injuries is variable. According to MedicineNet, "An oblique strain may heal within a few weeks to six weeks." But that timeline would probably be shorter for a professional athlete with top-of-the-line doctors working on him.
Ian Rapoport reported that Walker "has a chance" to play in Week 13 and that he does not have a major injury.
Kenneth Walker Fantasy Football Outlook
If Kenneth Walker is back for the Seahawks' game against the Dallas Cowboys, it won't be the easiest matchup for the second-year running back. The Cowboys boast a stout defense, and fantasy running backs have underperformed against Dem Boys.
The Cowboys are allowing the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. They are especially limiting running backs' receiving upside. Dallas has only allowed 258 receiving yards to running backs, the fifth-lowest, and just one receiving touchdown.
Kenneth Walker is good enough, nonetheless, that he should be started most weeks. Walker is the RB6 in standard scoring and the RB13 in PPR leagues. Since he is primarily a north-south runner who breaks big plays and less of a receiving back, the Cowboys' success at limiting receiving production won't hurt him as much as it hurts other running backs.
If Walker plays, he might not finish as the RB1, but he has a good chance to finish as a top-12 running back next week. Keep an eye on his injury status.
