We're now headed to Week 9, and NFL teams are starting to get desperate approaching the trade deadline. Many fantasy managers are getting desperate, too, as they're ready to make some moves to help their teams make the playoffs.
In this article, we will focus on Darius Slayton, Pat Bryant, and Christian Watson. Slayton was targeted five times right after Cam Skattebo suffered a devastating injury in the Giants' loss to the Eagles, hinting at a bigger role for the veteran moving forward. Bryant scored his first career touchdown in the Broncos' big win against the Cowboys, while Watson looked sharp following his return from injury, putting up 85 yards in a win against the Steelers.
Are Slayton, Bryant, and Watson worth adding off the waiver wire in Week 9? Here are the latest outlooks on each for fantasy football.

The New York Giants were feeling very optimistic heading into their Week 9 matchup against the Eagles, but Skattebo's heartbreaking injury sucked the life out of their team, and it will probably signal the end of their season.
"It definitely hurt."

Without Skattebo, the Giants will have to rely more on the passing game and the development of Jaxson Dart. Star WR Malik Nabers is also hurt, meaning Wan'Dale Robinson and Slayton will be Dart's best options moving forward.
While Robinson will get the majority of the short pass target share, Slayton will be the main recipient of the deep balls. Among the WRs with over 20 targets so far this season, he ranks ninth in average depth of target (14.7) per PFF.
An example of this was Slayton's 68-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, which was controversially negated by an OPI call.
Pat Bryant Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 1% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
Rookie wideout Bryant didn't have too many opportunities to establish himself as a key player prior to Week 8, but an injury to Marvin Mims Jr. opened the door for Bryant to have his best performance of the season.

The 74th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft caught two of his four targets for 40 yards, which included a deep and impressive touchdown grab near the end of the first half.
With Mims likely to miss a week of action due to being placed in concussion protocol, Bryant will have a golden chance to prove himself against the Texans in Week 9. If he has a good outing, expect the Broncos to involve him more in the passing game, even when Mims returns.
Christian Watson Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 6% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
Christian Watson should have been among the best wide receivers in the league by now, but injuries have been a constant thorn in his side.

Watson missed most of his rookie season training camp, played in just nine games as a sophomore, and his 2024 season was continuously interrupted by injury setbacks, which ended with an ACL tear in Week 18.
However, he finally returned to the field last week, putting up a vintage performance to prove that he still has what it takes to be a franchise WR. Watson caught four passes for 85 yards, finishing as Week 8's standard WR26.
The Packers are on a roll as the NFC's first seed, and Watson will continue to be one of Jordan Love's main targets.
"Same thing we've been seeing in practice," said HC Matt LaFleur when asked about Watson's performance. "He brings an element to the offense and to our team with his size and speed, and his versatility."
