NFL MVP Power Rankings: Top 10 Candidates Ahead of Week 5

Even though we only have four weeks of NFL action in the books, it is never too early to start looking at the MVP race. Which players have given themselves an early lead? Who has made a surprising push to the top 10? Drop your MVP prediction in the comments! Let’s dive in!

Lamar Jackson - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 10 - Lamar Jackson, BAL

One of the biggest fallers this week is Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 4, Jackson and Ravens fell to 1-3 and appear to be in danger of falling out of the playoff race. During their loss to the Chiefs, Jackson threw for just 147 yards with a 1:1 TD:INT before exiting the contest early. If he were to miss time with a hamstring injury, he would fall out of the MVP race.

Daniel Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

No. 9 - Daniel Jones, IND

The 28-year-old otok his first loss of the season but continues to produce. In their loss to the Rams, Jones threw for 282 yards and added a touchdown, but threw two interceptions. During the first three games of the season, Jones looked flawless, averaging 272.0 passing yards per game and combining for six total TDs (three passing, three rushing).

Baker Mayfield - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

No. 8 - Baker Mayfield, TB

Baker Mayfield also took his first loss of the season, but gave the reigning Super Bowl Champions a strong fight. During their loss to the Eagles, Mayfield totaled a season-high 289 yards with two passing scores. Through four games, Mayfield has thrown at least two passing scores in three and has held a strong 8:1 TD:INT.

Jordan Love - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 7 - Jordan Love, GB

The Green Bay Packers looked like Super Bowl contenders through the first two weeks of the season. However, in Week 3, they took a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns. Then in Week 4, they tied the Dallas Cowboys in a 40-40 shootout. In this game, Love racked up an impressive 337 yards with three touchdowns. Love has only the top one interception this season and has tallied 250.0 yards per game.

Justin Herbert - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

No. 6 - Justin Herbert, LAC

Justin Hebert sat comfortably in the top-3 throughout most of the opening month. However, after a disappointing loss to the New York Giants, the former first-round pick takes a steep step back. In his first loss of the season, Herbert struggled, going just 23-for-41 with a season-low 203 passing yards. Through the first three games, Herbert averaged 286.7 passing yards per game.

Patrick Mahomes - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 5 - Patrick Mahomes, KC

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs extended their winning streak to two games, enjoying an explosive offense. Welcoming back Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs were able to score a season-high 37 points. Mahomes led the way, going 25-for-37 with 270 passing yards and four touchdowns. Expect Mahomes to continue building his MVP resume when Rashee Rice returns at the end of the month.

Jared Goff - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

No. 4 - Jared Goff, DET

Jared Goff and the Lions have put their Week 1 loss way behind them as they continue to dominate in Week 4. During their victory over the Browns, Goff tossed another two touchdowns. While he was not needed to push the ball downfield as much, since Week 2, the Lions signal caller has racked up eight passing scores while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Matthew Stafford - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 3 - Matthew Stafford, LA

Matthew Stafford and the Rams bounce back in a big way following a disappointing Week 3 loss to the Eagles. In Week 4, they faced the undefeated Indianapolis Colts, but Stafford was able to get get the better end of the matchup. The veteran QB threw for a season-high 375 yards with three scores. Stafford has thrown at least two scores in each of his last three games and averaged 289.7 yards during this span.

Jalen Hurts - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

No. 2 - Jalen Hurts, PHI

Jalen Hurts extended the Eagles’ perfect 4-0 start with a victory over the Buccaneers last weekend. Hurts was not tasked with doing much in this game but was effective when called upon, going 15-for-24 with 130 yards and two scores. Through four games, Hurts has yet to throw an interception and has totaled diving passing scores with four rushing scores.

Josh Allen - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 1 - Josh Allen, BUF

Sitting in the top spot once again is Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. Allen and the Bills picked up their fourth-straight victory over the Saints on Sunday. With this game being closer than expected, Allen went 16-for-22 with three total TDS (two passing) and came for 2456 yards from scrimmage. Through four games, Allen has punched in 10 touchdowns and averaged 280 total yards per game.
