The PGA RotoBaller staff digs into their One and Done selections for the Workday Charity Open. Here are some under the radar plays and picks for this week's event.

The slow restart continued for me at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, as Patrick Reed buried both of us in the sand with his missed cut effort. Joe and Josh faired much better with their selection of Viktor Hovland, netting each slightly over $131,000 and giving Josh a narrow overall lead.
This week's event at the Workday Charity Open has the chance to provide a plethora of options for everyone to choose, so let's dive in and get things started.

One and Done Selections - Workday Charity Open
Joe Nicely - Hideki Matsuyama
Alternate - Collin Morikawa
Lots of interesting paths we could take this week for the Workday, the first of back-to-back events to be held at Muirfield Village. This is a stronger field than we saw last week at Rocket Mortgage, but doesn’t boast the stars that we will see next week at the Memorial.
Patrick Cantlay is the first player that jumped to mind for me, but I’m going to hold off with him in hopes of a bigger purse somewhere down the line. Justin Rose is also a strong candidate in this spot, as his game looks recharged since the break and his course history is immaculate.
I ultimately decided to go with Hideki Matsuyama, a player that was originally my OAD pick at the canceled Players Championship (a tournament that he was lighting up by the way!). It appears Hideki was hurt not only by the decision to halt play at TPC Sawgrass, but also by the layoff itself, as he’s only made two ho-hum starts since play resumed. However, he showed some signs of life in Detroit last week after making the cut on the number and his five strokes gained on approach indicate that his irons are finally beginning to fire. Matsuyama is a former Memorial winner and I like the fact that he has a chance to carry some momentum into an event for the first time since the Tour’s restart. You can never go wrong by siding with a great ball striker at Muirfield Village and Hideki is one of the best in the world when he’s in form. -Joe Nicely

Spencer Aguiar - Rickie Fowler

If you have read any of my articles this week, this is a MASSIVE curveball I am throwing in that nobody will see coming. I'm going to continue to stump for Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm as the two most likely winners of the event, but the small purse doesn't leave me overly excited to burn one of my big guns in a field that is still challenging.
I believe there is a good chance that we see Joe go with Hideki Matsuyama or Patrick Cantlay, who are probably two of the safest plays on the board if you still have them available, but things have become complicated for me to maneuver around with both options already gone from my bank. Josh might attempt to go down the Cantlay route also with Matsuyama already being used at the Waste Management in February, and all of this is leading to me being trapped for this particular event.
I'm not so sure it makes sense from a strategical standpoint to try and win this week, and I believe taking someone I wouldn't normally want to play gives me the best chance to get out of this tournament as unscathed as possible for the future. Rickie Fowler is a phenomenal bentgrass putter that performs his best on slower greens, and his course history at Muirfield is encouraging. I saw enough during his 12th place showing at the Rocket Mortgage to take a shot in the dark, but I'd gladly take finishes outside the top-10 for all of us if I could control the outcome. -Spencer Aguiar

I had a hard time picking between Rose and Cantlay this week. To be fair, whichever one I used this week I was going to use the other next week assuming they’re in the field, so just hoping that I picked the order correctly. That’s a spoiler alert for Joe’s pick next week, by the way, but at least I KNOW he’s going to copy it this time since I said it out loud. I’m looking for the elite overall ball-strikers with some power and accuracy and great irons. The course demands that from players, and Rose and Cantlay fit that description. Their history on this specific course shows that’s a good recipe for success as well. I’m going Rose over Cantlay this week mostly as a fatigue/age factor. Cantlay is obviously a younger guy and I trust him more to string two great tournaments back-to-back more than I do Rose, so I went Rose for the first week. Hopefully by now Rose has had the time he needs to get acclimated to his new clubs, and he should put together a big week this week. - Josh Bennett
