Twins Extend Qualifying Offer To Sonny Gray
1 year agoThe Minnesota Twins officially extended a $20.325 million qualifying offer to right-hander Sonny Gray, ensuring they'll get draft-pick compensation if he signs with another team this winter. Gray is expected to decline the offer by the deadline on Nov. 14 and enter free agency for the first time in his career. He finished second among American League pitchers in both WAR and ERA and is expected to be one of the top free-agent arms this offseason and should command a big multi-year deal. The 34-year-old hurler made his third All-Star squad in his second year in Minnesota this year and finished the regular season with an 8-8 record, 2.79 ERA (league-best 2.83 FIP), 1.15 WHIP, 55 walks and 183 strikeouts in 184 innings over his 32 starts.
