Jorge Soler Hits 10-Day Injured List
Jorge Soler (back) on the 10-day injury list with inflammation in his lower back, retroactive to July 24. In other moves, the team recalled infielder Scott Kingery and outfielder Gustavo Campero from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace Soler and outfielder Chris Taylor (hand), who went on the 10-day IL with a fractured left hand. This is now the second time this season that lower back inflammation has led to a stint on the IL for Soler. The 33-year-old previously sat out the final two weeks of June with the same issue. Overall, Soler has hit just .215/.293/.387 with 12 homers, 34 RBI, and 31 runs in 315 plate appearances. However, after returning from his first IL stint on July 1, he slashed a highly productive .262/.360/.595 with four homers and eight RBI in 15 games this month. With Soler out again, LaMonte Wade Jr. will start in right field Saturday and bat ninth against Seattle Mariners right-hander George Kirby.
