Spencer Strider Starting Against Phillies In Game 1
1 year agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider will get the ball to kick off the National League Division Series on Saturday in Game 1 against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies in Atlanta. It's the obvious choice, as Strider led the league with 20 wins, 281 strikeouts, a 2.85 FIP and 13.5 K/9 in 186 2/3 innings in his 32 starts in 2023. However, he's heading into the postseason on a cold streak after allowing 17 earned runs while walking nine and striking out 36 in 27 1/3 innings over his five starts in September. He'll looked to get things straightened out against a Phillies team he has fared well against in 2023. In his four starts against them, he posted a 2.42 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, just three walks and 38 strikeouts in 26 innings to go a perfect 4-0.
