Samuel Basallo Returns To Lineup
6 months agoBaltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo (lower body) returned to action on Sunday for Double-A Bowie. Basallo had been absent from the lineup since Thursday with a lower body contusion. In his return, the backstop went 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI. The 19-year-old is the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline and is now hitting .281 with 11 homers, 34 RBI and seven stolen bases on the season. Despite being one of the best prospects in one of the best systems, Basallo could be a trade candidate for the playoff contending Orioles who have catcher Adley Rutschman behind the dish for the future. Regardless of if he is dealt or not, Basallo should be rostered in dynasty leagues, but his quickest route to the majors would likely come by being dealt. Either way, Basallo isn't expected to reach the big leagues until next season at the earliest.
