Ryan Yarbrough Gets Sent To Minors
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays optioned left-hander Ryan Yarbrough to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday and recalled right-hander Luke Bard from Durham in a corresponding move. Young right-hander Shane Baz, who should be added in all formats if he's still available, will take Yarbrough's rotation spot and make his season debut against the Minnesota Twins sometime this weekend. Yarbrough allowed six earned runs while getting only five outs in his most recent start on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, and he's now 0-3 on the season with a 5.65 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 20 strikeouts and 10 walks in 28 2/3 innings over seven outings (six starts). The 30-year-old southpaw should be back eventually with the Rays, but it may be as a reliever.
