4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals non-tendered third baseman Maikel Franco, infielder Jeison Guzman, infielder/outfielder Erick Mejia and outfielder Bubba Starling on Wednesday. They also agreed to one-year deals with outfielder Jorge Soler, first baseman/outfielder Hunter Dozier, right-handers Jesse Hahn and Jakob Junis and outfielder Franchy Cordero. Franco was in line for a big raise -- projected from $5-$8 million -- after leading the club with 38 RBI in the shortened 2020 season. The 28-year-old slashed .278/.321/.457 over 243 plate appearances. It's the second straight season that he's been non-tendered, but he could latch on elsewhere and find work as a regular third baseman after a solid season with KC.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
