Riley Greene Sitting Out Game 2 Of Doubleheader
1 year agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene is out of the starting lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. Greene will sit out the second game on Thursday after going hitless in four at-bats in Game 1 with two strikeouts in the team's 6-0 loss. In his place, Matt Vierling will get the start in center field and will bat leadoff against Angels left-hander Patrick Sandoval. Coming into Thursday's doubleheader, the 22-year-old Greene was hitting a strong .315/.379/.469 with an .847 OPS, seven home runs, 12 doubles, three triples, 23 RBI, six stolen bases and 39 runs scored in 66 games (280 plate appearances). He missed some time earlier this year with a leg injury, but he's an everyday player with a chance to make some noise for a non-contender the rest of the way.
