Rays Pick Up Ryan Pepiot, Jonny DeLuca From Dodgers In Tyler Glasnow Deal
12 months agoThe Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers agreed on a trade on Thursday that will send right-hander Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot to the Dodgers in exchange for right-hander Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny DeLuca, according to sources. Pepiot pitched in only eight games (three starts) for the Dodgers in 2023 while missing most of the year with an oblique injury, but he was great in 42 innings, posting a 2.14 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 38 strikeouts against only five walks. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect better numbers over a full season, but Pepiot should have plenty of mixed league value locked into a starting role with the Rays in 2024. DeLuca, meanwhile, will be competing for a fourth-outfield role in Tampa in the spring. The 25-year-old has a solid glove in the outfield and hit .262 (11-for-42) with two homers and six RBI in his first 24 big-league games in 2023 for the Dodgers.
