Green Bay Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary, who has been the subject of trade talks, doesn't expect to return to the team in 2026, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Gary announced on social media that his time in Green Bay was over before deleting the post. He is due $19.5 million in 2026 with no guaranteed money. Before outright releasing the 28-year-old linebacker, the Packers will try to see if another team will take him off their hands in a trade. The former 12th overall pick in 2019 out of Michigan was a first-time Pro Bowler in 2024, and he had a second straight season of 7.5 sacks in 16 regular-season games in 2025, adding 45 tackles (25 solo), seven tackles for loss, 20 QB hits, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Gary has two years left on his four-year, $96 million contract, and he has a $28 million salary cap number for 2026. He has 46.5 sacks in his seven NFL seasons and would most likely be picked up by another team pretty quickly if he reaches the open market.--Keith Hernandez
