The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Chapman University pitcher Nick Garcia with the 79th overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. The Bucs then took Appalachian State pitcher Jack Hartman in the fourth round and Northwestern State pitcher Logan Hofmann in the fifth round. All three are right-handed pitchers, and Pittsburgh used five of their six picks this year on arms. Garcia is an athletic pitcher at 6-foot-4 and has three potentially above-average pitches, including a fastball that can hit 97 mph. Hartman served as a reliever the last two years in college and led the Sun Belt Conference in saves (four) this spring before the season was shut down. Hofmann is 5-foot-10 and was a Cape Cod League All-Star in 2019 before going 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA in four starts this spring.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
