Paul DeJong Hitting Eighth In Blue Jays Debut
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays shortstop Paul DeJong, who was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals at Tuesday's trade deadline, will start at shortstop and bat eighth in his debut with the team on Wednesday against Baltimore Orioles rookie right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. Toronto just placed Bo Bichette (knee) on the injured list on Wednesday, so DeJong figures to see regular playing time at the 6 until Bichette rejoins the big-league team. Bichette isn't expected to miss extended time, so DeJong's stay as the starting shortstop could be short-lived. The 30-year-old is hitting just .233/.297/.412 on the year, but he has some pop (13 home runs) and could be a nice short-term play in fantasy with an upgrade in lineup with the move from St. Louis to Toronto.
